Fox Spin Zone Excludes Ron Paul

Last night, Sunday January 6, 2008 The Fox News Channel showed their true allegiance by holding a Republican Forum without Dr. Ron Paul. In every campaign the media makes a big issue out of how much money is raised each quarter, thereby lending legitimacy to the campaign that raises the most. The Ron Paul campaign raised the most money on the Republican side in fourth quarter 2007. Raising almost as much as Hillary Clinton, the Ron Paul campaign raised $20 million dollars. A Research 2000 poll published in the Concord Monitor released Sunday showed Ron Paul garnering 7 percent of the vote, beating Fred Thompson and only 1 point behind Rudy Giuliani in New Hampshire.

A month ago no one would have predicted that Mike Huckabee would win the Iowa caucus. And no one in the main stream media ever thought the Ron Paul campaign would be able to raise more funds than the darlings of the Republican National Committee, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, and John McCain. Ron Paul raised more money than Rudy Guiliani in the last quarter and beat him in the only vote so far, the Iowa caucus. If the Fox Spin Zone wanted to be "Fair and Balanced" they would have excluded Rudy Guiliani and had Ron Paul in on their little forum last night.

Why would Fox exclude Ron Paul? Is there something in his message that they don't like? Are the advertisers on the Fox News channel applying pressure to help get certain candidates elected? Are powerful political influences pressuring Fox News to promote certain candidates over others?

I believe when we look at the issues and what Ron Paul stands for, one issue stands out and points to the reason that the powerful elite of the United States do not want Ron Paul in office. That one issue is Ron Paul's agreement with our founding fathers that we should have no entangling alliances with any foreign nation. Ron Paul believes that we should bring our troops home. We have soldiers stationed by the thousands in many foreign countries as well as the soldiers that are in Iraq and Afghanistan. Those soldiers should be doing the same thing that most soldiers do in any other country. Defending the borders of our own country and providing for our own national defense. The implications of enacting that policy by a President Ron Paul would cause many powerful people in our country to loose fortunes and power.

When we went to war with Iraq the price of oil was $27 per barrel, it is now near $100 per barrel. Who benefits from that drastic raise in prices? It certainly is not the American people. Our politicians are spending billions of dollars each day in our name, but what are we getting for it. Nothing but higher prices, threats of recession and lost jobs. I live near Lima Ohio. Last week in the Lima News it was reported that we have over 5,000 people unemployed in Allen County. The Lima News had 13 jobs advertised the same day. The price of gas keeps going up, food prices keep going up and homes are being foreclosed on at an alarming rate. Who is looking out for whom?

Just what are the implications of a Ron Paul presidency? What would happen if we stopped sending soldiers to foreign countries, guarding other peoples borders and fighting in aggressive wars? Even if we kept the same amount of men and women in the military, the cost of running our military would be staggeringly less than it is now. No more flying soldiers to foreign countries, no more shipping of billions of dollars of equipment overseas and no more spending of billions of dollars on the building and maintaining of military bases overseas. The money spent on equipment, bases and supplies would be kept in our own country, our own economy. The money spent by soldiers would be spent in our own towns, not spent supporting the economy of some small town in Germany, Korea or Saudi Arabia. These towns are places that most Americans have never even heard of, yet they are on the receiving end of our tax dollars.

With all the benefits attributed to the pulling out of our troops from these foreign lands, who could possibly be against it? Powerful politicians supported by powerful corporations that profit by our aggression. Bankers, hedge funds, oil companies and other corporations have seen their profits more than quadruple, by billions of dollars since the Iraq war has started. Why would they support anything but a continuing of the status quo? The American taxpayer patriotically supports a war against the "evil empire" and thinks that they are footing the bill. The U.S. Government is selling about $600 billion in treasury bills each year to China and Japan. The Bush administration has conned us into thinking that our economy is doing great by lowering taxes, when in fact we are so far in debt that we could possibly never get out of debt without selling California to the Chinese. What do you think of that California?

There are many reasons why the powerful elite of our country want to squash the campaign of Ron Paul. Like the British and Roman Empires before us, we have soldiers spread all across the known world. Our soldiers are not stationed in countries that are poor, with little or no natural resources that would financially benefit American corporations. They are stationed in countries where there is money to be made. In most cases this is not a moral issue, but a financial one. Like the British and Roman Empires before us, we are spread to thin. There is a finite supply of oil and we need to be putting all of our resources into weaning our country off the oil supply, instead of spending more than it is worth to acquire it. Should the American people be duped by our own media and not realize this, we will go the way of every empire before us. The British Empire is now a small island and Rome is a city. How much of our country will we have to sacrifice to settle our foreign debts? Most of the politicians currently in office seem to not even care. It will be someone else's problem. Our children and our grandchildren will pay the price. The buck does not stop here, pass it on.

One positive note in the Fox News debacle. Hearing that Ron Paul was excluded from the Fox News Forum, Jay Leno asked Ron Paul to be on his show tonight, January 7, 2008. I think the ratings will be higher for the Jay Leno show than what Fox got for their forum. Thanks to true patriotic Americans like Jay Leno, the message of Ron Paul will be heard by the American people.

I think it's another example of how biased Fox news is... let him get his word out and people can either vote for him or not, based on what they think, not because someone is quashing the information. It's ridiculous.

Great work. Keep them coming. We need all the recognition we can get. First they write him off, then they try to marginalize him, then they attack him, then ignore him, but he just keeps coming due to the support of the people. It's the people that keep pushing and that is what we need, a leader of the people, by the people, and for the people. Go Ron Paul, they can't keep a good man down!

Thanks for a great article! Ron Paul was excluded because he MAKES SENSE. Due to the stupid media ignoring him, I'd not heard anything about him until the interview on Leno. When he started talking, I felt like I had been drowning in the ocean, and just saw the Coast Guard boat pull up to save me. I think Mr. Paul could fix a lot of the things that are wrong with our government, if he can just get elected.

Well Lucida, as for your link to the CNN piece you are rehashing information that has been explained, but maybe as is your right, you don't believe the explanation. Nonetheless I don't think you would be leaving comments on a pro Ron Paul article unless you felt threatened that maybe he does have a chance. One of the things that constantly amazes me is that on all the sites that I participate, I rarely receive negative comments on Ron Paul's stance that if it is not in the constitution, then we should not be doing it. Nor have I heard any ideas as to how we are going to settle our national debt to China and Japan. If Ron Paul is wrong, who is right and why?

Also, perhaps they heard about this breaking-story on Mr. Paul, featured on CNN. "Ron Paul '90s newsletters rant against blacks, gays" Read it here: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/01/10/paul.newsletters

The NY Times didn't have him listed as a Republican Candidate in their 'candidate profiles' section either. And the reason why is fairly simply. He's not going to win. He's not even going to come close in the nomination process. Guiliani and Thompson are included, despite low numbers, because they're 'celebrities'. This may not be right, but people knew who they were before this race. It's the only reason those two are included. Furthermore, if you look at that same candidate profile section on NYT, you'll see that only the top 3 Dems are listed, while 5 Republicans are listed. Again, this is because Thompson and Guiliani are famous. Ron Paul is not famous. He has a loud, internet-based following, but he won't get more than 10% of the vote in any of the primaries.

It is obvious that many are paying attention to not only this election, but the way our country is being run. The United States of America was at one time referred to as "the grand experiment". Simple, ordinary people, by virtue of democracy, taking control of their own destiny. Not ruled by a tyrant or group of tyrants. Have the powerful triumphed over us and doomed this "grand experiment" or will true men of courage rise up to lead our Republic into a better tomorrow?

Candidates are avoiding fox news interviews, i wonder why!

People getting rich off the ignorance of the American public is what it's all about. Dr. Paul has my vote and most of my family's. Thanks for reporting. I hope we're right.
