I used to be able to look past the parts of the show that were obviously fabricated. I didn't mind that the people who were dining at the "restaurant" always seemed to complain about food service being slow, even though if they went to Hell's Kitchen they should know that that would be the case. I could even look past people complaining to Gordon Ramsey's face and him yelling at them. Even though these exchanges never looked quite right to me, I let it slide.
I let anything slide that did not involve the kitchen including such timely deliveries, especially ones with wrong items or things missing, as well as some "misplaced" items in the kitchen.
All of that was fine as long as I believed what was going on in the kitchen to be real. The problem is I have lost faith in that. This season has the worst competitors in the history of the show. None of them would have been in the top-five of any previous season.
It is also interesting to note that of the four chefs that were remaining before Monday night's elimination, only 2 were "professional chefs."
All that would be fine if they were all better actors but the fact is I can no longer buy the drama in the kitchen. Rock acting like a madman was not convincing, Josh's meltdown after meltdown started to look staged. Add to that the sous chef asking where the monkfish is the exact second that one of the chefs put it in the trash, and you have one unbelievable episode.
Have you ever wondered why they couldn't even cook mashed potatoes? That is because they are actors who were told it would be good for ratings if they couldn't do it and Ramsey yelled at them. Of course if everyone did their job, like the chefs they are supposed to be, than Ramsey couldn't yell and no one would watch.
Have you also ever wondered why one team can have an insurmountable lead, only to lose it again in a few minutes. Editing aside, how can you catch a team that is almost done with dinner service when you are still on appetizers?
Monday night's episode finally took the cake for me. In what was promised as the most emotional episode ever, as everyone is, Julia was kicked out of the kitchen, but Ramsey said he would pay for her culinary lessons. I will never believe this unless I see Julia in school for myself, and Ramsey's paycheck to the school.
I also realized that even though Heather won last season, I have never heard anything else about her and I had never even heard of the hotel or restaurant that she is working at. It seems odd in this day of reality stars on morning shows and all over the television, that I have never heard of her or Michael since their finale episodes.
Maybe I am wrong, maybe the show isn't fake, but all of the drama seems to be just a little too perfect for the show. There is no way that the entire restaurant full of people is not staged, but I can hold out hope that the cooking is real even though I can no longer believe that this show is actually a reality show, but you know I'll still watch it anyway, it is the summer after all.

Post a CommentAs much as I love the show and have been a fan since Day 1, this show is Uber Fake. Take a look at Holli's victory party (Season 7) and you'll see Dave (Season 6 winner) scurry out of camera range, cast and all. Seriously! Take a look!
THAT SHIT'S FAKE NIGGS
I think brandon is correct. After you do background research and realize the chefs are not actors, the show feels less staged. You guys have to realise ramzee is on a whole different level then these guys. What they cook might please a family member, but its 100 times harder to please him. SO no to me the yelling is real. However when you look on fox you notice deleted scenes! so yes editing is done.
This is no different than any other reality show on television. It's ALL in the editing. Trust me. However, common sense leads me top believe the winner is picked by Ramsey far in advance. For Pete's sake...this is person he will hire and pay good money! I have to believe, others on the show are strung along for drama. Some of them have no business being IN business, but it's goo TV.
i have no doubt its fake.
-In Season 6 notice the body guards that fox added to protect Gordon, those were soo fake.
-also notice in some rare parts you see chefs that have been eliminated.
-Also the season 6 fight was scripted with Gordon and that guy.
i can prob guess that the show is fully staged, some of the health drop outs may be real but things like Arron were prob faked.
Oh, please... poisoning people? You act like humans don't have livers, or kidneys for that matter. One or two bites and you'll know if the dish isn't up to par. Most high-brow guests won't eat past that. And even if they did, the food, whether under- or overcooked, is still fresh, so you couldn't possibly get food poisoning.
have people in the uk forgot ramsey was on watchdog for killing shouting swearing at his apprentices . way before he became famous, a good 6 years ago or more, seems like this as been put aside now, will he did say sorry and all that lol,
Dude. This has got to be the most ridiculous show I have ever seen. This guy is an idiot and so is the entire concept. This ranks right up there with professional wrestling. OMG - what a trainwreck. It is one of the most demeaning and intelligence-insulting things I have ever seen - I think maybe only any documentary about Angelina Joile or Demi Moore could be less interesting to anyone of intellignece.
There's clearly a great amount of staging for dramatic effect going on. It's really to the point of silliness sometimes. The show is obviously less about cooking, since it's not a cooking show, but a reality show. Ramsays rants and outbursts are still kind of funny though.
I just found this article via Google, and it's complete BS. Sure there's a lot of editing, if they just showed people cooking in a restaurant all night, there would be no ratings. If you've ever worked in a restaurant (Denny's, McDonalds, etc. does not count), you know that this is how things are. You can't make this stuff up. They're not actors, they're aspiring chefs. Gordon Ramsay is one of the most accomplished chefs on the planet (12 Michelin Stars for Christ's sake!), he wouldn't risk his reputation and achievements on a "fake show".
