There will be some spoiler-y speculation in this article, so if you're avoiding them, you will want to skip this fall preview.
In the season opener, House will be determined not to hire assistants, and his boss, Dr Cuddy, will be just as determined that he will. She enlists the help of his friend Wilson, and between the two of them they attempt to prove to House that he needs other minds to bounce ideas off of. House attempts to prove that he's fine being an island.
We won't get to see Chase, Cameron, and Foreman in the opener, but I have it on good authority that they will be back, if you like them and are hoping for their return. If you don't, pray that authority is wrong. (Rumor has it that Chase and Cameron are still working in the hospital, Cameron in the ER, and Chase in one of the other departments. Rumor also has it that Foreman's cushy job will evaporate and leave him crawling back to House within the first five episodes. That, I have to admit, I'm looking forward to.)
Unfortunately, I haven't heard any rumors about House having any romantic interests this year-- and I have to say that was something I was hoping they'd pursue. I have also heard that some of the patients of the day will be quite interesting, and that the running Lupus joke will be back.
The new doctors will give House new people to torment and to be tormented by, which should be interesting. I haven't heard as much about them, although I have heard that one of them is a former plastic surgeon, and as such, he has a lot of House's same psychological perspectives on people. The other three doctors (two women and a man), have no details available about them yet except for the actors that will be playing them, of course.
All in all, this season of House has a lot about it that makes me look forward to it as possibly the best season yet. Certainly, I think that bringing in new blood, and giving the older doctors new young faces to compete with will make for a lot of sparks, and a lot of great television.
