fragment: 5:52 pm uncommon common rains;

flood would not really be
an inappropriate, not incorrect,
word. a rain unlike i have seen
anywhere i have lived; anywhere
but here; not quite whole
drops, not quite a mist,
somewhere between these exists
a rain which slides through
and along ancient fingers
of the earth, like a ring slipping
into place where mud and tree
join. a rain you barely feel
as you walk the thoughts out,
a rain which will soak you
to the bones before making it
ten foot from your door - a rain
whose absolution holds all the joy
and the terror of your darkest fear
and sweetest dream mingled together
for earth and soil and soul to drink.

An uncommon, common
rain, a seattle rain.
