Frances Bean Cobain Engaged at 19? Celebrities Who Married Too Young

COMMENTARY | Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of the late Kurt Cobain and singer Courtney Love, is allegedly engaged to her boyfriend of a little over a year, Isaiah Silva of the L.A. band "The Rambles." Cobain and her troubled mother have aired out several of their grievances over Facebook, and she and Silva recently changed their relationship status on the same site to "engaged."

For the sake of them both, let's hope they come to their senses, or at least plan a very long engagement. At 19, and having lived such a rough life thus far, Cobain should think twice before making a life-long commitment.

What's also a little bit creepy, is that Silva has a striking resemblance to Cobain's late father. Something also noticed by Cobain's mother, Courtney. In a Vanity Fair interview when referring to Isaiah, she sighed, "He looks like her Daddy."

The daughter of the late Nirvana frontman may think she is ready to settle down now as she recently purchased a $1.8 million home in Los Angeles, and she posted this comment via Facebook: "Getting to spend the rest of my life loving my best friend makes me the luckiest woman in the world."

Stop, Frances, don't do it! Rarely do such young marriages work, and the odds are especially against them in Hollywood.

Macaulay Culkin rose to quick stardom as the child actor in the "Home Alone" movies. Culkin married Rachel Miner, when both the bride and groom were just 17 years old in 1998. The couple separated in 2000 and were divorced in 2002.

Actress Kate Hudson, who also grew up in the public eye with mother/actress Goldie Hawn, was married at 21 to singer Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes. They had a son together, Ryder, but divorced after seven years of marriage.

Rocker Avril Lavigne was also married at the young age of 21 to Canadian musician Deryck Whibley. The pair split after just three years of wedded, apparent "un-bliss."

Then we have country singer LeAnn Rimes, who was 19 when she married 21-year-old Dean Sheremet. Rimes was allegedly cheating on her husband, but others said the pair just weren't in the same place anymore. Something that is common for those who marry at such an early age.

I hate to see Cobain go down this same road, but at 19 she is not likely to listen or learn from the mistakes of others. At this time in her life she is probably thinking only with her heart. I would imagine she's craving the safety and security of marriage after an unstable childhood, but a wedding ceremony is not the best way to for her to get it.
