Franchise and Turnkey Businesses

Another option for you in home based businesses, is to buy into a franchise or a turnkey business. A franchise is a "business arrangement that gives you the right to sell a product or service in a particular area." A turnkey business is divided into three categories, one is an existing business, another is a business opportunity, and the third is network marketing.

When you buy a franchise you already get a business concept, and a sense of structure. There are lots of franchises to choose from. So, which one should you pick? You want one that is a best fit for your skills and interests. You want to look at the amount of time you have to spend on the business. You want to look at the money involved, which is not only the franchise fee, but also for lawyers and accountants. You also want to look at the popularity of the franchise. Here's a list of what you can get from the franchiser when you buy training, procedures, products and advertising.

A business opportunity is much like a franchise in that you are purchasing an idea for your business. Where they differ is the fees that are paid and in the amenities that come with the business. For a franchise you will pay more money however you will get everything to get your business up and running. With the turnkey business you pay less, but you also get less. You will do your own advertising and training.

Network marketing, or to some pyramid schemes are another business you can run from home. You can sell any type of product from cosmetics and vitamins, to sex toys and Tupperware. If you get people to sell under you and they get people to sell under them that is how you build your network is through your downline. There are some requirements to watch out for. Read the print to find out how productive you need to be. Are there monthly minimum order requirements? Are there termination penalties, minimum order changing penalties and buy back provisions in your contract. The good news is that for relatively little money you can buy your way into this business, and if you have lots of contacts you can make money like any other business.

As with any business, do your research before you buy the business so that you are not caught in a scheme.
