Frank Mir Vs. Lesnar: Will We See a Third Fight?

Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar are two of the most popular heavyweights in the UFC, but will we ever see a Frank Mir vs. Lesnar rubber match?

Of course, Frank won the first fight by kneebar and Lesnar won the second one by forcing Mir to submit to strikes while he was trapped on the ground.

Their fights are classic wrestler vs. jiu jitsu matchups that both casual fans and purists seem to love.

Mir got battered in both fights but in the first one, he brought home the win and at the second one, at UFC 100, he managed to daze Lesnar with a knee that could have lead to something better if he had capitalized on it.

Right now, Mir is scheduled to face Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in a rematch that he is expected to win. If Mir wins that rematch, a fight he won easily the first time around, although "Big Nog" had a staph infection," he will be in limbo for a bit.

But the Frank Mir vs. Lesnar rubber match could then happen if Lesnar were to lose to Cain Velasquez in their MMA fighter title fight at UFC 121, which is possible because Velasquez has great cardio and skill and Lesnar showed vulnerabilities against Shane Carwin, the fight could happen for a third time and the ratings would be huge for the UFC.

Mir has made off-hand comments about how he wanted to kill Lesnar in the Octagon and Lesnar has called Mir an obsessive stalker before so the bad blood between the two is pretty serious.

Also, Mir taking on Carwin for a second time doesn't make sense because the fight wasn't remotely competitive. But whether or not Mir would take such a fight if he were to beat Nogueira would be up to him.

MMA fighters like Mir and Lesnar both hate to leave things up for debate and that's why they'd like to settle their grudge match once and for all with a third bout should it ever come to that.

The prediction here for Mir/Lesnar III is that Lesnar would be a favorite regardless of what happens before then.

And it's no secret that MMA fans would love to a see Frank Mir vs. Lesnar part III in the Octagon and would make it one of the biggest fights in UFC history yet again whether it's for the title or not.
