Freak Dancing AKA Lap Dancing Popular Amongst Teens

High School Dances Have Turned into Sexually Explicit Encounters

Kelly Spies
Freak dancing is a form of dancing where dance partners grind their hips and pelvic areas against each other in a way that simulates sex. Also known as grinding, this form of dancing looks like lap dancing in the standing position and if the dancers were naked would appear to be having sex.

Freak dancing, or grinding, has become a popular trend amongst teens who are the biggest group of demographics listening to hip-hop and house music. High school administrators have begun banning freak dancing much to the dismay of the younger generation.

Some freak dancing movements involved are:

Doggy-style standing up - This is where one of the dance partners, usually the girl, dances with her butt up against the groin of her partner. Sometimes this is reversed and the girl dances behind the boy. .

Thigh grinding - This is a move in which both dance partners are facing each other and straddle their partners thighs while rubbing their genitals on their partner's thighs. Think dry humping.

Wave - The wave is a synchronized movement between partners

Vibration Gyration - This is where you typically see extremely rapid quivering of the butt only. Sometimes this move will incorporate the entire body. I'm reminded of The Jerk or seizures when I see this.

The Grind Train - A grind train is when a bunch of people stand in a line, facing the same direction and grind together in one movement. The grind train line is also sometimes referred to as a whore line, bumping line, freak train, hump train, grinding line and booty line.

James Davis - I still have no idea why it's called the James Davis but it is a move that involves one partner miming deep thrusting pelvic movements while he/she grabs their partner's butt.

Various schools across the nation have received complaints from parents regarding the acceptance of freak dancing and sexually explicit behavior. In 2001, a Seattle school district caused a ruckus when it banned any dance movements that involved bending over more than 45 degrees.

America began seeing an influx of teenage freak dancers in early 2000 and by 2001 parents and students alike were outraged; for different reasons of course. Now seven years later high schools are still fighting this battle. One school in Seattle has requested that students sign a contract agreeing to avoid freak dancing.

So, what's the big deal with freak dancing anyway some might ask, considering that even though it mimics sex it is not actual sex and is safe from disease. I counter that reaction with the answer that it is just plain inappropriate behavior conducted by people far too young to understand the implications freak dancing presents; such as a willingness to really have sex when in fact that that is not the intention.

Not to mention that intimate sexual encounters should be a private affair between two people with a full understanding of the risks involved and not a public display of fake-sex by children with too many hormones raging way too high. There is no place in high schools for dry humping teenagers.

I was once a freak dancer, and I opted out at prom before joining in the grind with another partner. Oh, and I wrote an article about how it even spread to preschoolers!

it's fun to dance this way, at my district dances, this is the only waye everyone dances, and if a girl doesn't have a partner, she joins 4-5 other girls in the train. we don't feel violated or compelled to do anything worse. In fact, because people are trying to stop "freak dancing" we only want to do it more.

you are all cowards. dancing like this is fun because kids can go through all the motions of sex without doing anything. they can get close without feeling pressured to do anything. also grinding is dead you idiots. wh

and this is exactly why your boys will be the ones to get some teenage girl pregnant. if you repress them in stupid things like dancing they'll go absolutely nuts when they leave your care and you wont have anyone to blame but yourself

the kids are learning it in school because parents like you are too chicken to bring up sex at home where it should be taught. don't pretend like you learned everything about sex from your mom and dad on your 18th birthday.

This is why I have volunteered (and will continue to do so) at my son's middle school dances. This is sick, and kids are growing up way too fast. :-(
