Fred and the Family Phelps

Would that my hatred

Born of sunder; my soul, my breast

~

My God

~

Protest and pageantry

Service only to, and of, the elect

~

Hate; pure and clean

~

Fundamentally disbarred,

Homophobiclly fanaticized,

~

Gavotte, Calvinistic algorithm,

Arminianized flux; broken refrain

~

Ebb and flow

Grandly designed ultimacy
Pietistic child abuse

~

What a tangled web was wove

Lends he who hath no sin

~

Bastian and hearth

Master; predestined and damned nation

~

Efficacious covenant, and Nicene creed,

Reformulated, transcending, mono- omnipresence

~

Abjected secularity

~

MY God!

~

Because Fred said liturgy

Soteriological waste, and Phelpine scatology

Vulgar and ill willed, all along the funereal vigil

Brilliant! While it's hard to imagine that anyone doesn't know who rev god-hates-everyone-but-me phelps is; I love that you manage an evocative poem without quoting his rhetoric. Let the unwary google him and be newly astonished.
