Lawrenceburg, TN 38464
United States of America
Lawrenceburg, Tennessee is being honored with one of the biggest events in the town's history. Saturday night the community will welcome home its former citizen, Fred Thompson. Fred Thompson is returning home to formally announce his running for presidency of the United States of America. Besides meeting a candidate running for president, when meeting Fred Thompson one will also be meeting a man that has made a name on the television and movie screens. In addition to movies, he has played a part in the television series Law and Order.
The event will be held on the town square. The kick-off will begin around 10:00 AM with an Arts Festival celebrating Lawrenceburg's fine artists. Art has also played an important part in the town's history. The town is very proud of its local artists. All money raised from the art show will benefit local school art programs. Food vendors will be available all day.
Close to sundown (around 7:00) Fred Thompson's supporter, John Rich will be performing. Rich is from the popular country music duet, Big and Rich. Rich was a former member of Lone Star. Rumor in the town has it that Brooks and Dunn may also be accompanying Thompson. Of course, this could just be small town talk or wishful thinking.
Thompson will arrive soon after for a speech to his hometown folks. During his speech he is expected to announce his candidacy.
No vehicles will be allowed on the square after 2:00 on Saturday. Persons wishing to attend may park at local Rotary Park. A shuttle bus will be available to transport people from the park to the town square. Parking around the square and at store near the square will also be available. This is a once in a lifetime event. The opportunity to see and hear Fred Thompson announce his running for president may be as close to making history as many of us will ever get. In addition a free concert by John Rich is nothing to frown upon.
If you live anywhere near Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, there is no excuse for missing this event!
