Enjoying quality family time in Miami does not have to cost you a fortune. If you know the right places to go, your entire family can have a fun filled day for free. The kids will have so much fun, they will beg you to let them stay just a little longer.
How about a day out a Pinecrest gardens. Pinecrest gardens is located where Parrot Jungle was before the relocation. Here your kids are free to run wild, Play on the new playground or take a nature walk. For $3.00 your children ages 2 and up can enjoy the splash area. Make sure to bring a towel and dry clothes. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy during your day out at Pinecrest Gardens. A concession stand that sells hot dogs and drinks is available if you forgot to pack lunches. Miami Art Museum, also known as MAM, has free family days the second Saturday of every month.
AT the Miami Art Museum you can let your children experience a real art gallery for free. On family days the Miami Art Museum offer free activities. After spending some time at MAM, visit the Historical Museum of Southern Florida. The Historical Musuem of Southern Florida is located next to the Miami Art Museum. Adrienne Arsht Center for Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County offers free family activities the first Saturday of every month November thru May. The events starts at 11:30 and ends at 1:30. Here families can enjoy special performances, craft projects, and learn about art. The Miami Dade public library offers many free programs throughout the week for children.
The Miami Dade libraries offer story time with craft activities, special teen programs, and special family nights. Check the Miami Dade library website here for a calendar of events at your library branch. Some free family events require you to register ahead of time.
AMC theaters offers free movies for kids during spring break and the summer. The Spring break 2009 schedule has not been posted yet. When the schedule is available it will be on the AMC website here
