Zoo Atlanta, located at 800 Cherokee Avenue in Atlanta Georgia, will be offering free admission on three selected days in August to those who meet eligibility requirements. Read on to see if you qualify for a day of free admission to Zoo Atlanta.

Free Admission to Zoo Atlanta - City of Atlanta and Fulton County Family Days

City of Atlanta and Fulton County Family Days will be held on Saturday, August 14 and Sunday, August 15. Free admission to Zoo Atlanta will be offered to ALL Atlanta and Fulton County residents on these two days beginning at 9:30 am. City of Atlanta and Fulton County government employees who are non-residents are also invited. Proof of residency or employment must be shown for free admission to Zoo Atlanta.

Free Admission to Zoo Atlanta - Educator Appreciation Day

Educator Appreciation Day will be held on Saturday, August 21 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Zoo Atlanta will giving free admission to Zoo Atlanta to all educators and $2 off the admission price of each educator's guest. ALL educators are invited. This includes free admission to Zoo Atlanta for all local and out of state educators and education administrators, currently teaching or retired, and parents who home school their children. Proof of employment required. Home school parents must provide a declaration of intent and photo id.

Boma, a 23 year old male eastern black rhinoceros, continues to be treated for gastrointestinal distress and electrolyte imbalance by the veterinary team of Zoo Atlanta.

Sandar, a baby orangutan, was euthanized several days ago at Zoo Atlanta. His condition had been worsening since his birth on March 30 and he required oxygen and a feeding tube. A necropsy was done by the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine. Preliminary findings indicate that Sandar suffered from an enlarged heart along with other ailments.

Glenda, a 3-year-old female giraffe, gave birth to her first calf. The baby giraffe is 6 feet tall and weighs over 100 pounds. Visitors to Zoo Atlanta will be able to see Glenda and her calf, not as yet named, in several weeks, pending approval from the zoo's animal management and veterinary teams.
