You do not have to have a lot of money to find stimulating Arts & Entertainment events to do in Minnesota. One of the best things about the state of 10,000 lakes is that there is also a great deal of fine events that you can do for free. Below is a guide to some of the best arts & entertainment in the great state of Minnesota that you can see for free.

Weisman Art Museum: Located on 333 E River Rd on the U of M campus. The building itself for this fantastic museum is a piece of art. A lovely stainless steel and brick building that was designed by architect Frank Gehry. The museum has collections that range from early 20th century American Artists like Marsden Hartley and a collection of contemporary art. It is a teaching museum and offers a fresh look at art and gets a rotating schedule of exhibitions throughout the year. Minneapolis Institute of Arts: This is perhaps the best known art museum in Minnesota. Known for the famous giant cherry and spoon art installation this is a lovely museum. They have any number of exhibitions that come through in different parts of the year; currently they have pieces called collecting the new (1960-2010) it will be at the museum until August 1st 2010. The collections of the museum itself range from African art to Asian art and any number of other worldly artists. Minnesota Museum of American Art: The title of this museum says it all it features collections by American Artists. In the last year the museum has been through some tough times as they are a non profit museum, but in 2010 they are working hard on reestablishing themselves as a cultural presence in Minnesota. They have over 3500 items from the 19th century to present day. They do also have some special American artist exhibitions that come through.
