To begin your free Georgia vacation, take Interstate 20 west to the exit for Villa Rica. Follow Georgia highway 101 to highway 120 and turn right. Turn left at Merle's BBQ (Rc Thompson Rd) and then left on Zion Church Road. The check station is north on Georgia highway 278 near Willow Springs Road.
There are over 26,000 acres of gorgeous Georgia land to spend your free camping trip at. There is free primitive dispersed camping throughout the area so come prepared for your toiletry needs. Free Activities
Hiking is definitely a must during your free camping adventure in Georgia. There are multiple short trails on the north end of the forest and some lead to paved roads. If hiking will be your main free camping activity while camped here, you should plan on entering the forest on the north end off of Georgia highway 61 and Brasswell Mountain Road.
Fishing should definitely be on your list of free things to do in this creek filled gorgeous Georgia forest. There is also Corley Lake at the north end where you'll catch bass for supper later.

Camping in the North Georgia Mountains is so amazing and when you camp for free you are going primitive style. Although there are creeks and streams throughout Georgia, it is much easier to catch free rainwater than to boil and filter river water.

Attractions abound here as this location in Georgia is so close to many activities. One unique and free attraction that you should see on your way back from your camping trip is the Marietta Fire Museum. It's very fascinating to see equipment from the 1800's and children find it amazing.
If you like art, visit the Marlow House in Marietta, Georgia to see a beautiful collection from Thomas Kinkade. Other artists are also displayed.
Camping Tips
This is a fantastic getaway from the Atlanta area and it is not well known, as most people head for the Chattahoochee National Forest or Sweetwater Creek State Park for their nature adventures. With the beautiful rolling hills and picturesque views, this hidden Georgia treasure is a must when looking for a free camping location.
Just as a reminder, hunting is a big sport in Georgia so always wear an orange vest or bright colored clothing. You may also want to check the weather before you take that free camping adventure because during winter months, all areas of Georgia have seen snow, ice or both for the last two winters.
