Free Chat Applications for Personal and Business Use

Everybody enjoys a good chat on the Internet. Chatting online is a way that we stay connected with our friends, family and co-workers. In today's high energy world of technology, chatting online is also a way that we meet new friends or even referrals for possible employment or career boosters. While we already pay a fee for having access to the Internet (although some may get it via free public wireless), having to pay a fee for a chat application is not something we would like to have to invest in. The Internet offers a variety of free chat applications that we can use at home or work.

The popular and well-known company, Google, offers a free chat application for online users. It has a chat application that can be used while logged into Google mail or iGoogle. If users would rather chat from their desktop, they can download Google Talk. Users may chat via video by using microphones or text chat. Another feature while chatting includes transferring files and making free calls to other PCS anywhere in the world. To use Google Talk, users must have the following requirements on their computer: Windows XP or later or Mac OS X 10.4 + Linux.

Webmasters will enjoy the free chat addition, "Add on Chat" that can be used on websites. A free chat application installed on websites is also a useful way to build an online community. Add on Chat allows webmasters to interact with their online visitors. The chat application offers features such as private instant messaging, a profanity and text filter, multiple language support, user ignore and user icons. It is very easy to install on a website by simply embedding some java-script on the HTML template of your website. Add on Chat allows you create a username and password so that you can change the look, feel and settings of your chatroom from the user dashboard. This chat application is designed more for advanced users or those that are familiar with JAVA and HTML.

Online chatters who would like to have a video conference in an online meeting can use iVisit. Ivisist allows up to eight users at a time in a conference. The chat application allows users to share screens, browsers, documents and projects while chatting simultaneously. Chatters can also attend the chat via their mobile phone too. Ivisit is ideal for co-workers and businesses who have employees in different areas of the world. It is also useful for families who live far away from each other to communicate via video as well. Ivisit is free to download and can be used with Windows on your PC or via your mobile phone.

For families who want to talk to their child who is away at college or grandparents who want to watch their grandchild grow up from afar, there are chat applications that can be used for free without paying for a long distance call. Businesses can count on chat applications to host meetings and develop business strategies. With a few simple clicks, a webcam and a microphone, somebody who is far away will seem like they are sitting right across from you.
