I use it for my 8 year old during the summer. We take a week to go through each lesson. He's thinks he's too old for the coloring pages now but he reads the passages and does the worksheets. There are even different levels of worksheets. When my son was younger I printed out the sheet where he would just circle the answer. Now I print the more advanced one where he actually has to fill in the blanks.
It is very simple to get a week out of each lesson. Here's how I do it:
Monday - We go over the suggested bible verses. We do this one of two ways. I either have my oldest read the bible passage. Or, we listen to the Bible on CD or online for free.
Tuesday - Do the page that contains the true/false and fill in the blank questions. If circling the answers is too easy for your child then move them up to the fill in the blank page.
Wednesday - Work on the word search. My son usually doesn't complete the entire search. But it contains words from the Bible lesson. So this helps reinforce the scriptures that he read on earlier in the week. And sometimes this page also contains an additional fun activity.
Thursday - Do the crossword puzzle. This puzzle is based on key verses from the lesson.
Friday - I have my son give an oral summary and do an applicable craft project.
You can modify this schedule for younger children who can't read. They still listen on Monday to the scriptures. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday I ask them questions from the worksheets and then give simple answers that they can understand. And on Friday I print out the coloring page for the ones who are old enough to color.
One issue that I have with the curriculum is that some of the lessons are based on different Bible translations. And it's not specified on the pages which translation it is. So sometimes it's hard to find the correct word for the crossword puzzles if we're not using the same translation. Also, there is no craft project. But I usually find an applicable one at another site.
However overall, it's an excellent resource for teaching your children the Bible.

Post a Commentthis is a great curriculum. this should hopefully be all over the world. but get more interesting pictures
I checked out their resources before, and was disappointed that the bulk of the material was activity sheets which not only get old after awhile, but aren't very 'meaty'. These free resources are better than nothing, I guess, but just can't compare to real curriculum that you pay money for (our favorites are at http://www.shop.highvoltage-kids.com/main.sc) The most important thing is that you're taking it upon yourself to consistently model and teach God's Word - too many parents think an hour at church a week (if that) is enough for their kids to become Christians with a Biblical worldview.
Wow, this is clever and cute.
