There is a plethora of free Christmas events for kids in Knoxville, Tennessee. Only a very few cities will offer more than City of Knoxville. This list includes a sampling of what is available. Clicking on the links for the names of the events will give more information. Visitors an also find out more at the City of Knoxville website link above.


Times and dates for each Christmas event may change due to weather or other factors. Visitors should always verify attendance details with each venue before arriving.


Knoxville Symphony Orchestra on the Town

West Town Mall

7600 Kingston Pike

Knoxville, TN 37919
November 27 and December 11 at 1:00 pm.

This free Christmas concert takes place indoors at West Town Mall. Tickets are not needed. The event is geared to families. Food and beverages are available at the mall food court.


WIVK/Fowler's Christmas Parade

Downtown

December 2, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.

This year the parade features Rodney Atkins. Performances by local high school marching bands make this a memorable night. The best spots to watch the parade will be taken early. Visitors may want to dress for the weather and arrive an hour early. A flashlight may be helpful for getting back to the car. Parking is free in the downtown city garages.


Mighty Musical Monday

Tennessee Theater

December 5 at 12:00 pm and again at 2:30 pm.

Free tickets are required for this event. They may be picked up at the Mighty Musical Monday events in October or November. Tickets may also be picked up at the Tennessee Theater box office from Monday - Friday.


A limited number of bag lunches will be available for $5. Otherwise, a refreshment stand will be open. Featured in December will be the Central High School chorus and selected songs will be performed on the historic Wurlitzer Organ.


Knoxville Nativity Pageant

Knoxville Civic Auditorium

December 11 at 3:00 p.m.

December 12 and 13 at 7:00 p.m.

The Knoxville Nativity Pageant is an annual event. It is the combined efforts of volunteers and choir members from churches throughout the region. Parking is available at the Civic Coliseum parking garage. The Nativity Pageant is free but a free will offering may be collected.


Walk Through Bethlehem

Church Street United Methodist Church

December 18 from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm

This event gives visitors a look at what the City of Bethlehem may have been like at the time the Christ Child was born. It begins with a brief message from a local Rabbi. Visitors will then walk through a representative market and then pass an inn from which there is no room. There will be animals and an outdoor stable scene outdoors.


The line can be long but moves quickly. Re-enactors in period dress perform for visitors who are waiting.
