This project requires:
small amounts of main color (MC) for stocking and contrasting color (CC) for trim
crochet hook size F
Gauge:
5 sc = 1"
4 rows sc = 3/4"
Abbreviations used:
ch= chain
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
inc = increase
dec = decrease
st = stitch(es)
sl st = slip stitch
lp = loop
sk = skip
Stocking:
With MC, Make lp on hook, ch 16, turn.
Row 1: sk first ch, sc in each ch across row, ch 1, turn (15 st)
Row 2: 2 sc in first sc of previous row (inc made); sc in next 13 st; 2 sc in last st, ch 1, turn (17sc)
Row 3: 2 sc in first st; sc in next 15 st; 2 sc in last st; ch1, turn (19 sc)
Row 4-7: 1 sc in each sc across row; ch 1, turn (19 sc)
Row 8: Draw a loop through each of the first two stitches, and draw a loop through both (dec made); sc in next 15 st; dec at end of row; ch 1, turn (17 sc)
Row 9. Sc in first 15 st; dec at end of row; ch1, turn (16 sc)
Row 10: Dec over first two st; inc 1 sc in next st; sc to end of row, ch1, turn (16 st)
Row 11: Sc in first 11 st (leave rest of row unworked); ch 1, turn (11 sc)

Row 13: Sc in first 11 st; 2 sc in last st, ch 1, turn (13 sc)
Row 14-22: Sc across row; ch1, turn (13 sc)
At the end of row 22, do not ch 1; fasten off yarn and work in loose ends.
Make a second stocking motif identical to the first, but when you reach the end of row 22 do not ch 1 or fasten off. Lay one section on top of the other and single crochet through both layers; down the side, around the bottom, and up the other side (leaving the top open). Fasten off and work in loose ends.
Popcorn trim:
With the stocking toe pointed to the left, attach CC to the first single crochet left of the right-hand seam.
Row 1: Ch 3, 4 dc in joining st. Remove the loop from your hook and insert the hook into the top of the ch 3. Draw the loop through, folding the stitches outward into a popcorn shape. Ch 2 and sk 1 st. Make 5 dc in the next stitch and finish the popcorn as before. Continue to make popcorns in alternate st around the top of the stocking. Join your last ch 2 to the top of the first popcorn. (12 popcorn st)
Row 2: Make one popcorn stitch in the top of each popcorn of the previous row.
Hanging loop: ch 8, sl st in joining. Make 16 sc in ch8 lp; sl st in joining and fasten off. Work in loose ends.
