Free Cinco De Mayo Printable Lesson Plans and Coloring Pages

Cinco de Mayo is the Mexican equivalent of our Fourth of July; Cinco de Mayo, or Fifth of May is the day Mexicans remember the Battle or Puebla led by Benito Juarez. Cinco de Mayo is a great way to explore the culture, holidays, dress, customs, food, music and tradtions of our American cousins to the south.

Here are lots of websites for you to explore with free printable lesson plans, games, activities, puzzles, sentence completion, games and projects. You'll find links for social studies, geography, science, culture, reading, art, literature and some math also. These sites do not add any unwanted spyware or adware to your computer. They do not ask for personal information or require the download of any software or toolbar.

Some may have pop-ups, but you may need to disable your pop-up blocker to use the site, just because the opening of the print window may require pop-up software. Your computer will be safe and you can enable your pop-up blocker after printing for easier surfing. Also, remember to click 'fast economical printing' from your print menu if you want to conserve ink.

Mr Donn.org brings to you lessons on every aspect of Cinco de Mayo, with painstaking research as always. Mr. Donn lesson plan pages aren't full of dead links like so many link pages. Mr. Donn does a great job of connecting materials.

EasyFun School offers several unique recipes (chocolate bananas) a pinata making how-to and several history and geography lesson plans.

Scholastic offers a complete lesson planner kit with materials, lessons, links, ideas and free printables featuring a map of Mexico, Mexican flag, Battle of Puebla, Hispanic leaders, posters, history, images and recipes. Print a nice poster featuring Cesar Chavez and other Mexican labor activists, political figures, scientists, artists, musicians and more.

Alfy.com has several complete units, crafts for Cinco de Mayo, counting lessons, words in Spanish, several Webquest activities as well as a unit exploring family heritage in general. Alfy has a huge free coloring pages list for you to print.

Teacher Planet links you to many online teaching communities, which offer completely printable units and lessons which you can open in Adobe Acrobat format. You don't need to be a teacher to print materials and there is no registration involved.

Kiddyhouse.com has a lengthy page under the Cinco de Mayo tab with units, lessons, maps, history, webquest, projects, puzzles, games, music, crafts, recipes and more. There are ideas for several ages groups.

The Educator's Network offers an array of teaching materials, curriculum and lesson plans to explore Cinco de Mayo. There is a unit developed my the Denver Public School system that may be freely printed and used in your school to explore Hispanic culture and create links to the mainstream culture in Amercia.
