This service is one of the most needed service to be offered to people unable to pay for medical insurance. They are operated solely on a volunteer basis, the doctors, nurses and administration personnel all volunteer their time. The drugs are all donated by pharmaceutical companies, pharmacy's, hospitals and doctors offices. The space that the free clinic operates out of are usually donated by some organization or a hospital. Free clinics are a life saver to many.

The services that are usually offered are basic care such as looking after someone with hypertension, someone that's diabetic, arthritics or people suffering from the common cold and flu. They help with testing supplies and medication for the various illnesses. Those with major illnesses are referred to the local hospital. If you need to see a doctor and have no medical insurance, it is definiately worth the visit.

Without this free service thousand of Americans would die yearly. It is not easy to be unemployed, sick and wanting a doctor, but can not afford one. The draw back is, you've got to have proper documentation or it is impossible to see a doctor. Each person must show valid id, proof of address and proof of income or the lack thereof. It can be a hassle for people not working or that's homeless. Many times an appointment is necessary to see the doctor , but due to the amount of people seeking help it may take up to 2 weeks for an appointment. However, once your appointment arrive you will see a doctor and if necessary medication will be provided and it will be 100% free.

These facilities believe in the fair care of people to respect the dignity and autonomy of each person by providing them the information, skills and support necessary to promote their participation in the decision of their health care. Many times people feel a lost of pride and dignity when placed in a certain situation so, it is necessary that they have a say in their health care.

I will put up the link where most of the free clinics in America are listed, if you don't see any listed for your city check with you city council's office and they should be able to direct you from there
