One of the world's youngest clarinetists with international status, Julian Bliss of England, will perform at an 11 a.m. convocation, followed by a master class, at the Illinois State University School of Music on Tuesday, Jan. 26, Both are free and open to the public in the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall.

The 19-year-old Bliss has appeared as a soloist with orchestras including the London Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, Royal Philharmonic, Orchestre National de France, Seattle Symphony, BBC Philharmonic, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, NHK Symphony, Munich Chamber, Malaysian Philharmonic, Swedish Radio Symphony and the Bergen Philharmonic. He has given recitals in England, France, Israel and recently at the Lincoln Center in New York. He also is a prolific chamber musician.

The Jan. 26 events are part of Bliss' tour of the U.S., which also includes stops in Alabama, Indiana, Michigan and Nevada. The weekend after the Illinois State performance he will participate in the Illinois Music Educators Association Conference in Peoria.
