Free Credit Report Song: You've Got a Winner Here!

Beverly Bright
Free Credit Report has a new jingle. I mean a really new jingle; not a duplication of a popular song or even a "take-off" of another song. How refreshing that is to hear. Someone actually created something new!

Television

I first heard the commercial on television, multiple times (TV commercials are relentless), however, this one did not offend me. I did not even get bored with it. Why? It has a toe tapping melody, is fun, the harmony is enjoyable and I can actually understand the words! What a difference. The wording is:

They say a man should always dress for the job he wants,
So why am I dressed up like a pirate in this restaurant?
It's all because some hacker stole my identity
Now I'm in here every evening serving chowder and ice tea.

Shoulda gone to FreeCreditReport dot com
I woulda seen this coming at me like an atom bomb
They monitor your credit and send you email alerts,
So you don't end up selling fish to tourists in t-shirts.

Radio

Free Credit Report has also put the melody on the radio airways. Multiple times I have heard it while driving my car. This new one is almost as good as the first one. These ad songs have surely driven traffic to their site and the Company if benefiting. The wording is:

Well I'm shopping for a new car, which one's me? A cool convertible or an SUV.
Too bad I didn't know my credit was whacked, so I'm driving off the lot in a used sub-compact.
F-R-E-E, that spells "free", credit report dot com baby.
Saw their ads on my TV.
Thought about goin' but was to lazy.
Now instead of looking fly I'm looking fat, my lets are sticking to the vinyl and my posse's getting laughed at.
F-R-E-E, that spells "free", credit report dot com baby.....

Not actually free

I have used a credit monitoring service for several years. In the beginning I just wanted to clean up some past history and in so doing I found a real advantage for a continuous monitoring report. All the forms and information needed are located on their site, as well as helpful tips to eliminating negative reporting. Some companies will not report final settlements of accounts, leaving an open balance showing. I found an old tax lien that was still showing, even though it was paid and supposed to "fall off in 10 years". It had not been removed. Collection agencies can be overly aggressive and sometimes file duplicate or erroneous reports - all of which hurt the credit score. Monthly update reports on credit scores are given and in today's world the credit score is all important to you as a consumer.

The report is not actually "free" as it implies; it does require a subscription to Triple Advantage Credit Monitoring at $14.95 per month. We can forgive Free Credit Report for the misleading connotation since they have presented such a pleasurable advertising. Kudos to Free Credit Report dot com!

It actually is free. It's a free 7- or 14-day trial. You just have to cancel before the time is up. It's really easy to cancel too.

Great article! I bet the services at freecreditreport.com are quality because so many people use it, but if you just want a printout of your credit report, you can go to the websites for the credit agencies (equifax, etc) and actually do it for free. That's what I do. You can also request a free copy in the mail, whatever you prefer. Then, if you want the score, you just pay a small fee (I can't remember the exact amount right now).
