Free Crochet Pattern: Easy Crochet Leg Warmers with Matching Arm Warmers

Leg warmers are making a comeback from the 80's. Parents are having fun reminiscing of the past. Leg warmers today are made of modern design, color and style. I created these leg warmer and arm warmer patterns to fit toddler girls to girls age nine. These warmers are functional and warm.

Supplies
Size "J" crochet hook
2 skeins of yarn

Optional:
Decorative buttons
Ribbon

Notes
To make these leg and arm warmers-warm, double the yarn by using both skeins at once. Single crochet is the only stitch used for these patterns.

Leg Warmer Instructions
-Chain 23 stitches for toddler or 35 for child.
-Row 1: Single crochet into 3^rd chain from hook. Single crochet into chain (21 or 33 stitches).
-Row 2: Chain 2, turn. Single crochet into all stitches.
-Repeat rows until the rectangle is large enough to fit around your child's leg for a snug fit. For toddler it will be approximately 52 rows. For child, 64 rows.
-Last Row: Fold rectangle so the beginning row is in line with the last row. Work single crochet through both the first and last row all the way across. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Optional Additions
Sew on decorative buttons onto leg warmers or/and weave in ribbons.

Arm Warmer Instructions
-Chain 19 stitches for toddler or 27 for child.
-Row 1: Single crochet into 3^rd chain from hook. Single crochet into chain (17 or 25 stitches)
-Row 2: Chain 2, turn. Single crochet into all stitches.
-Repeat rows until the rectangle is large enough to fit around your child's arm for a snug fit. For toddler it will be approximately 34 rows. For child, 42 rows.
-Last Row: Fold rectangle so the beginning row is in line with the last row. Work single crochet through both the first and the last row for 3 stitches for toddler or 4 stitches for child. Work 3-4 single crochet on one row created the thumb hole. Then single crochet through both rows again until complete. Fasten off. Weave in Ends.

Optional Additions
Sew on decorative buttons onto arm warmers or/and ribbons

This pattern can be costumed to your needs and preference. You can crochet leg or arm warmers for teenage girls, adult women or yourself. Simply gauge the size needed by using the limb to wrap the warmer around as you go. I have even made arm warmers for my boys using solid black and other boyish colors.
