Crochet hook steel size 6
Crochet thread size 10

Penny Covering

chain 5, join to form a ring

chain 2, 11 dc (13 if you crochet tightly) in ring, join (12 sts {14 sts}) I usuaslly crochet over the tail and then pull it up tightly and fasten it down to keep the ring size.

chain 1, 2 sc in same place as slip, 2 sc around, (24 or 28 sts) join in back loop of 1st sc

no chain, 1 sc in the back loop of ea sc around, (24 or 28 sts) fasten off by cutting an 8" tail and weave in and out of the back loop of the last row. With wrong sides together, gather up penny covering over penny and fasten off.

Four Leaf Clover

Join thread in any back loop of row along the edge but towards the back and the coin facing you, chain 1, *1 hdc, (1 dc, 6 tr, 1 dc) in next st, 1 hdc, slip st in next 2 (3) sts*, and repeat * 3 times, join in chain 1.

Chain 2, *(sc in next st, ch 2) 10 times, skip the 2 (3) slip sts of previos row*, repeat between * 3 more times ending with chain 17. sc in 2nd chain from hook and the rest of the chain back to the shamrock, join

You can leave as is and carry it with you in your pocket, purse or wallet. OR you can sew on a little pin to the back and wear it proudly. These make really nice gifts. I also have a link on my blog for a lucky penny crochet heart pattern.
