Free Crochet Patterns for Cat Toys

Darlene Michaud
If you like quick and easy crochet projects, you might want to try making some cute cat toys using the free crochet patterns below. Don't have a cat? Maybe you know someone who does! They might love some new cat toys for their kitty cats.

If you live near an animal shelter, you could donate a basket full of crocheted cat toys so the shelter can sell them to raise a bit of money. Or they may just want to give them to the shelter cats to play with.

No matter what you do with the cat toys, you will have fun crocheting them. And they are a great crochet project to use up any yarn scraps. So get those yarn scraps and your crochet hook out and start crocheting some cute cat toys!

Crocheted Cat Toy Pattern #1 - Kitty Squid Cat Toy: This is a very unusual cat toy. It's not one you immediately think about when you think of cat toys. This is a squid! But when you see the finished toy, you will understand how a cat would love this toy. This is a project better suited for seasoned crocheters. Crocheted Cat Toy Pattern #2 - Kitty Cat Toy Balls: This is a very easy crochet pattern for little toy balls, so it's a good pattern for those just learning to crochet. You can whip up a bunch of these cute little balls in no time. Since this craft is so quick, and since all you need are yarn scraps to complete them, this is a very good toy to make if you plan on donating the toys to an animal shelter. The instructions suggest you can stuff the balls with cat nip or fiberfill, but you can also use cotton balls or even fabric scraps to stuff them. Crocheted Cat Toy Pattern #3 - Fish Cat Toy: This is a sweet pattern for little colorful fish. Your cat will love picking up these fish with his paws! Tuck a bunch of these little fish in the bottom of a plastic bowl or a paper bag and watch your cat go wild on his fishing expedition! This is another quick cat toy project that is good to use up yarn scraps and also to donate to pet shelters. These little fish even make fun party favors to give away at a summer party. You don't have to give them to just cats! To see a photo of these cat toys click here. To print out the free pattern instructions click here.

Please remember that only you can determine if a particular toy is safe for your cat. If you plan on donating some of these cat toys to an animal shelter, it's a good idea to show them some samples for approval before you make dozens of any particular toy.
