I am not a medical professional, just another guy who has grown up with the disease since he was a kid. The thing that fascinates me about juvenile diabetes is the whole "for profit" industry behind the scenes that always seems to tout itself as a "benefit" to the diabetic patient.
Let's be honest for a second and say the diabetic supplies benefit the patient, the diabetic drugs benefit the patient. But the distributors of the products do not benefit the patient. They benefit themselves. I am all for capitalism in some regards but making money off of someone that can't change their condition seems kind of a tough pill to swallow. I guess that is because I am on my side of the coin so to speak.
So in my research for facts about some of the Free Diabetic Testing Supply places I have found that at best they are just pharmacies with a weird promotional angle. At worst they are bait and switch scammers of epic proportions.
How else could they afford those cool tv and google ads. If you have medicare they just bill medicare/medicaid and it works out like normal pharmacy for you, except they deliver and you may or may not pay shipping and the drop the copay on some items. If you don't have medicare they are no better than a corner pharmacy as they bill the normal copay but also the shipping. Guess I will go to walgreens anyways.
Think about it, how else could they pay for that big house that Wilford Brimley lives in. Can you say Diabeetus! I know you can. For some other Diabetes info you can check out my Diabetes Foot Care website too. Thanks!
