Free Disney Ticket: Disney to Launch "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" Campaign

Lauren Romano
If you are one of the many people that want to go to Disney World for the day but do not have the money, there is some relief coming your way so you too can enjoy a day with some of your favorite Disney characters.

The free entry on your birthday was a popular campaign by Disney, but it will be replaced with the "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" campaign in 2010. As much as I would have loved to go to Disney for my birthday and receive free admission, it just was not possible for me to go on that specific day; I am sure I was not the only person to have that problem.

The "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" program starts on the first of the year and runs until December 15, 2010 or until all the tickets are gone. The goal of Disney is to spur one million volunteers. For one million people that follow through on a day of volunteering with select charities next year, they will be able to receive a one-park ticket valid for one day. The completion of your service will be verified.

President Obama has made pleas for more people to step up and commit to volunteering. People heard his message through almost every outlet possible including email and on various websites. While some made the move to donate their time, others have yet to do so.

Tickets to Disney parks are not known for being exactly cheap. A one-day 'Magic Your Way' base ticket, which allows you access to one theme park per day for each day of your ticket, is $79.00 plus tax for anyone over the age of 10. The "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" campaign can be just the motivation that people need to spend a day volunteering.

As a frequent volunteer, I can vouch for the great sense of accomplishment that comes with donating your time. So many wonderful organizations are tight on funds and volunteers can make all the difference. Even after volunteering for one day, you may realize that is better than you thought and will continue your service. For those that have very little time to give, some places allow you to volunteer at your leisure for a couple of hours at a time.

Hopefully, the "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" can encourage people to volunteer for the ticket, but keep volunteering for the love and satisfaction of it.
