Free DVD Movie Rentals with Redbox Promo Codes

Want to Watch a DVD for Free? You Can with These Promotional Codes from Redbox

Marie M. Daniels
About Redbox: If you feel like watching a movie, but don't have the extra spending money to pay for it, here is a way to rent a new DVD for free. Redbox is what its name implies, sweet and simple. Redbox is a red box kiosk placed in some stores that works just like a vending machine. The Redbox kiosks hold around 500 DVD's that you can rent. Redbox also has new releases every Tuesday, and some movies are available at Redbox before their public release date.

There are Redbox machines in some of the following locations: Days Market, Festival Foods, FoodTown, Giant Eagle, Hy-Vee, McDonald's, Maverick, Pick 'N' Save, Price Chopper, Savemart, Sentry, Shoprite, Shop & Stop, Shop and Save, Wal-Mart, and Walgreen's. There are many more locations not listed, most are in local grocery stores. Not every location listed will have a Redbox, but it's a good place to start looking. Chances are you have already walked by the DVD rental kiosk and ignored them. Don't be confused though, there are other red box kiosks that look similar but Redbox does not own them. If it is not a Redbox you will not be able to use the promo codes and get the free rentals.

To rent a DVD from the Redbox machines you will need to use your credit card or debit card. Some may see using a credit card to rent a movie as a drawback. Most people use some form of credit on a daily basis already. If you don't have a credit card or have bad credit you can use a prepaid credit card. You must have more than one dollar on the prepaid credit card and it must be registered to your address. The Redbox machine asks for your zip code to authorize the card so it must be attached to a physical address.

When you rent a movie without a promotional code from Redbox it will cost $1.00 per day plus tax. A dollar a day is much less than you would pay for a new release from Blockbuster. If you rent from Netflix you have to wait on the movies to be mailed to you. A Redbox rental is a nice deal compared with the movies on demand from your cable company. You can also reserve the videos online at the Redbox.com website and find out what movies are available. Keep in mind that if you reserve online you cannot use any promo codes.

Now that you know what the Redbox kiosks are here are the Free Promotional Codes:
1. REDBOX - For first time customers.
2. DVDONME
3. BREAKROOM
4. DVDATWAG - Only works at Walgreen's locations.
5. MCDWNTR - Only works at McDonald's.

How to use promo codes with Redbox:
1. Use the touch screen and touch the box in bottom left-hand corner that reads, 'Rent With
Promo Code'.
2. Enter a promotional code.
3. Browse through movies and select your choice.
4. Touch the, 'Add To Cart' button.
5. Proceed to 'Check Out'.
6. Follow prompts to slide your credit card through the card reader.
7. Enter zip code attached to credit card.
8. Enter email address.
9. Wait for Free movie to be vended.
10. Take home movie and enjoy!

A few final notes:
Even though you use a promotional code, your credit card may show a one-dollar fee. This one-dollar is just temporary if you used the codes properly; Redbox calls it a "temporary authorization hold". They will release this authorization hold 3-14 days after you return your DVD. I have rented many times using promo codes and have not once seen any holds on my card statement. You must return your video by 9pm the next day or you will be charged $1.00 plus tax for every day the movie is not returned.

I strongly recommend entering your email address when you rent a video with Redbox. The machines don't give you a paper receipt but they will send you an electronic receipt to your email account. If you keep the movie for over 25 days you will be charged 25 dollars and you can keep the movie. You can return your Redbox rental to any Redbox kiosk; just make sure it is actually a Redbox machine and not a look-a-like.

How to get even more promo codes:
If you go to Redbox.com and sign up to get SMS text messages on your cell phone you can get more free rental codes. Every Monday Redbox sends out a text to signed up users so they can get a free rental. The Monday code can only be used until midnight that day at any Redbox location on Free Movie Monday's.

If you want even more promo codes you can sign up with your email on Redbox.com and they may send you another promo code for a free rental. If you would like to get the Monday promo codes online instead of on your cell phone you can visit Insideredbox.com for those. There are also other promo codes available on the Inside Redbox site.

A close friend of mine has an interesting way of getting to keep the movies he rents from Redbox without paying for them. I wont say how. I don't need to be partially responsible for tons of movies missing.
