Free Entertainment and Activities in Los Angeles, CA

"LaLa" Land may be expensive to live in, but here are a few places that offer great things to do for free. So, next you are in the great City of Angels, Los Angeles, make sure you stop by these attractions that will not only enrich your visit, but be easy on your wallet, too.

The "Hollywood" Sign - There is a viewing area at the Hollywood & Highland shopping center next to Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Drive up Beechwood Canyon Drive for a closer look.

Hollywood Walk of Fame - It runs along Hollywood Blvd. and Vine St. in Hollywood. The very first eight stars begin at the NW corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Highland Ave. See if you can find your favorite stars walking along these sidewalks.

Fortecourt at Grauman's Chinese Theatre - 6925 Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood, CA. Compare your hands and feet to those of the world's famous movie stars like Joan Crawford, Jean Harlow, Humphrey Bogart, John Wayne and Marilyn Monroe.

Griffith Observatory - 2800 East Observatory Rd., Los Angeles, CA. They have a free astronomy museum that lets visitors take a peek through a giant Zeiss telescope each evening. Make sure you get there early because there is a cut off. Visit their website for more info www.griffithobs.org

Olvera Street (Pueblo De Los Angeles) - 845 N. Alameda St., Los Angeles, CA. The birthplace of the City of Los Angeles. There many free events at the historic plaza. You can enjoy strolling through the shops filled with Mexican wares, or enjoy a nice lunch in one of the many taco stands or restaurants. There are even Mariachis that wander the plaza at times serenading the public with their beautiful music.

The Getty Center and Villa - The Getty Center: 1200 Getty Center Dr., Los Angeles, CA. The Getty Villa: 17985 Pacific Coast Hwy., Pacific Palisades, CA. Both of these have free admission but the Getty Center requires reservations by calling in advanced at (310)440-7300 and the Getty Villa does require payment for parking. The Getty Center offers art from the Middle Ages to the present with breath taking views. The Getty Villa is dedicated to art from ancient Greek, Rome, and Eturia. The Comedy Store - 8433 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA. (323)650-6268. 21 and over. Some nights they offer free admission. Call for information and reservations. They do have a 2 drink minimum. They often have a ladies get in free night.

Audiences Unlimited - 100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City, CA. (818)753-3470 Get free tickets to see your favorite TV shows. You must get your tickets in advanced through the mail or online. The tapings are at various locations in the Los Angeles area. Please arrive early for your show because seats are limited. Some ongoing shows are "Two and a Half Men", "According to Jim", "People's Choice Awards" which are held in January.
