Free Event Tickets in Washington DC

You can get free event tickets in Washington DC for many of the best performances. The WETA public broadcasting station has giveaways every week for free show tickets and more.

Description of Free Event Tickets in Washington DC:
WETA gets free tickets every week from DC area cultural institutions that they give away to listeners and viewers of Classical WETA and WETA Television. Just because these are free show tickets, they're not second rate by any means. Even during the slower summer months in DC, the offerings are outstanding. This week's selections include the Folger Consort performance of Tempest at Strathmore. There will be readings from the play by Sir Derek Jacobi and Richard Clifford, along with performances by baritone Robert McDonald and countertenor David Daniels. A baroque orchestra joins the Folger Consort for music from and inspired by The Tempest and the sea.

Rules for Free Event Tickets in Washington DC:

Unlike the WETA free book giveaway which is open to almost anyone nationwide, you have to be a resident of DC, Maryland or Virginia to win these free show tickets. Also ineligible are people under 18 or employees, volunteers or interns of WETA or the ticket venues, as well as their family members. To enter, you just go online and enter your contact information. Winners are drawn at random and notified by email from WETA staff. If you win, you need to bring proof of identification to pick up your free tickets at the Will Call box office at the performance venue .All giveaways end one week prior to the event. You can only win once every 30 days, and only one entry per person per giveaway is accepted. Each winner usually gets 2 tickets.

Your Odds of Winning Free Event Tickets in Washington DC:

The odds of winning naturally vary with the number of entrants but your chances are pretty good. WETA is the only classical station in DC so I listen to it constantly and I never heard of this program until I saw a co-worker using it. From working at nonprofits, I've gotten in the habit of recommending it to summer interns who are looking to experience as much DC culture as possible on a low budget. In my experience, the ones who entered regularly often won at least once. With about five to ten tickets winners for each event, it's worth trying and who doesn't want free show tickets in this economy?
