This free fabric makeup bag pattern is the perfect accompaniment to your suitcase. If you have sewn your own free fabric overnight bag, then these little fabric makeup bag patterns can be used and coordinate well with your other pieces.

To Sew Your Own Free Makeup Bag Pattern You Will Need:

Fabric

Tape Measure

Zipper

Liner Fabric

Pellon Fusible Interfacing

Scissors

Chalk

T get started you need to cut out two outside panels to 10 inches wide and 14 inches tall. You will need the same size in 2 pieces of liner fabric as well as a sturdy or medium weight interfacing.

Now, iron the fusible material to the back of your exterior fabric. Tip: It is a great idea to pre wash the fabric so that in the future you can simply throw this in the washer and not worry about shrinking.

Now, lay one piece of exterior fabric face up on the table. Lay the zipper face down right ton the top edge. Line the two ledge sup and center the zipper. You can trim the zipper on the makeup bag pattern later.

Now, lay the interior fabric piece pattern side down on top. Line up those top edges on the fabric again. Sew along this edge. You can use a zipper foot to get a nice close stitch.

Repeat this on the other side using the other pieces of fabric.

Now, you will be sewing the body of the makeup bag pattern together at this point an creating a stable bottom so it can stand up flat.

So, fold the fabric so that the zipper is in the middle and the two exterior fabrics are laying face or pattern side together Do the same with th interior fabric. Unzip the zipper on the free keep bag pattern halfway.

Sew along all the sides using a ½ inch seam allowance but leave a 5 inch opening on the bottom of the liner.

Now, take the exterior fabric and you want to create the bottom or foot of the make up bag pattern. To do this you simply insert you hand inside the fabric through the hole in the liner.

Take the bottom corners of the exterior fabric and fold them down. You are basically creating a small triangle on the two corners by flatting the side down onto the new bottom. Line the side seam up with the bottom seam and make a small triangle.

Sew a straight line across the flat edge of the triangle you created on the side and then snip the end off. Repeat on the other corner.

Turn the whole piece inside out. Sew the liner shut on the make up back and then press into place.

You will have a flat bottom on the makeup bag pattern and it will rest on your bathroom counter easily no matter where you travel.
