To Create Your own Custom Fabric Tablecloth Pattern You Will Need:
Large sheets of paper
String
Ruler
Pencil
Scissors
To get started you want to measure the diameter of your table. Most round tables come in 36 or 48 inches, but this round table cloth pattern can be made in any size. Now, divide the diameter by 2.
The math is important here when making your own free round table cloth pattern, so pay close attention. Now, you need to decide how low you want the drop on your tablecloth to be. About 8 inches looks great. Again, though you can make this as deep or shallow as you wish.
Add the drop measurement to the first number you just calculated (half the diameter). Now, finally, add on 2 inches. Cut a piece of twine to this length. You want to cut about 5 extra inches on as well. Tie the string to a pencil and then trim as needed foot bring down to size.
Now, lay your fabric or paper out on a large flat surface. You want to hold or tape the end of the during in the middle of the paper and track eon enlarge circle using the pencil. Get a friend to hold the end of the twine if needed.
Now, cut out your paper. Use this as a pattern to make the table cloth.
At this point you can really use any fabric to make the free round table cloth pattern. I like to use cotton twill because it is nice and sturdy and will withstand plenty of washings.
Now, once your fabric is cut out for your fabric tablecloth pattern you need to hem it. I like to simply fold over the rough ends about ½ inch. Iron this down as you work. You can pin this as you go as well.
Now, fold over ½ inch again. At this point you will again use those pins and the iron again. Sew the hem down using the sewing machine. Sew using a ¼ inch seam allowance on the fabric tablecloth pattern.
Now, if you do not sew you could use fabric glue. Good fabric glue will withstand washing as long as you pre wash yoru fabric before making the round tablecloth pattern.
