Then you have to think about the 8-10 NFL players being probed for steriod use, Reggie Bush getting hurt, Brian Westbrook missing time, Brett Favre learning a new playbook, Jay Cutler with a finger injury, Dante Culpepper possibly going to the hopeless Detroit Lions (**deep breath**), Anquan Boldin looking like a ragdoll, the entire Cowboys defense being out, Felix Jones out, the Seattle receiving corps out, San Francisco's QB issues, and of course the Cincinnati Bengals.
Honestly, I haven't even gotten started, but there's no sense delaying this week's free football picks. All I can say is congrats to Tennessee and the NY Giants for winning their respective conferences through the first half of the season. Now that they both run into a lot tougher schedules will they be able to hold on? We'll have to wait and see, but in the meantime let's get to those football picks.
Houston at Minnesota (Minn-4.5)(47)
While this looks like a fourth consecutive win the way these two teams have been playing, I'm sticking with the Vikes. Home teams after a bye were 7-0 before last week's free football picks and I believe the only team that lost was Jacksonville who was at home off a bye. Gonna have to stick to that trend and hope it pulls through. Keep in mind it's not our favorite pick.
Minnesota 31 Houston 21
Jacksonville at Cincinnati (Jax -7.5)(40)
What do you say to a team reeling, and a team that imploded many years ago? Honestly, this game doesn't even deserve any free football picks because while many people think the Jaguars are lay down winners here, they haven't looked like it of late. Then again I did say earlier in the year I won't be taking the Bengals at all. Even though I went back on that once and for half a game I looked right. So come on Jacksonville, don't let us down here.
Jacksonville 28 Cincinnati 13
Tampa Bay at Kansas City (T.B. -8.5)(36.5)
When it comes to most games, defense almost always wins over offense. That being said this game shouldn't even be close. While it's hard to think that the Chiefs are starting to come around, everytime they play a formidable defense they get blown out. Even if the free football picks are picking against them at home.
Tampa Bay 24 Kansas City 13
Baltimore at Cleveland (Cle -1.5)(36.5)
Anybody hoppin' on the train thats headed to Cleveland? We're still not there yet, although last week's win helps the cause. However, their ridiculous record at home over the past two season is sick. So the Brownies should pull away from this one, but if the Ravens D is playing anywhere close to what they've been we can't see Anderson getting past that problem. Nah, we aren't adding them to the free football picks winners list.
Baltimore 24 Cleveland 14
NY Jets at Buffalo (Buf -5.5)(42)
As much as I can't stand the Bills, the Jets just don't look like they should at this stage in the game. Favre has turned the ball over 9 times in the last 3 games which has to scare the hell out of anyone picking the Jets and wind up going with the Bills. Here's the thing though, 4 of those INTs have been inside the opponents ten yard line. This means they're moving the ball, but in games like against Oakland, it'll cost them a win. Will they fix it? Probably not, but I finally picked the Bills last week for only the 2nd time and they lost. The time before they kicked a field goal in the waning moments to win 24-23.
NY Jets 20 Buffalo 16
Arizona at St. Louis (Ari -3)(48)
Now this right here is going to be an exciting game. You know Kurt Warner can't wait to give the world the "Greatest Show on Turf" even if for one game in red and white. Oh and by the way the whole having to interview minority candidates before hiring Haslett after he's been the interim coach is ridiculous. Whenever something is addressed as "minority" 99% of people think black and white. If they are going to do this then the teams need to interview every minority (Asian, Mexican, Indian, etc.) that is available in the coaching world. Guess that's a whole other article though. Anyways, I'm taking the upset here and the St. Louis Rams.
St. Louis 28 Arizona 27
Detroit at Chicago (Chi -13)(43)
The Detroit Lions bring a whole new meaning to the words; free football picks. Getting that one win in every week is a blessing in disguise considering the year we're having out there. So when it really comes down to it we don't care who Detroit is playing we are going to continue to pick against them. The Bears coming off a bye week should light up the Lions at Soldier Field.
Chicago 41 Detroit 7
Green Bay at Tennessee (Ten -5.5)(41.5)
Well, I just wanted to take a moment and thank the Titans for getting me off the 7-7 snide and pulling through a big 8-6 last week for our free football picks. Unfortunately I'm throwing my weight over to the Green Bay Packers this week. Mainly because they've just come off a bye, Tennessee is going to have a short week, and the Indianapolis game has to be a big relief for them. It's a downfall game, even if at home.
Green Bay 24 Tennessee 17
Miami at Denver (Den -3)(49)
Hey, so glad to see my Broncost had a bye last week coming into this game. It gave Cutler some time to heal that finger, Royal his toe, Stokley his concussion, and the defense to prepare for the Wildcat offense. So, you obviously know we're taking Denver since they're at home coming off a bye. Enough said.
Denver 31 Miami 18
Atlanta at Oakland (-2.5)(41)
This does have the makings of a great game, but Atlanta just doesn't have the same turnover issues Brett Favre and the NY Jets do. We already know Atlanta doesn't play well on the road, and it is possible for an upset here. They've played good at home the last couple games, even though they let the Chargers score 25 in the 4th a month ago. However, given the fact that the Falcons had an extra week to prepare while the Raiders got hammered by Baltimore and we've made our pick.
Atlanta 17 Oakland 13
Dallas at NY Giants (NY -9)(41)
Listen, I understand that line is bolstered because the Giants pulled out a great win last week. However, 9 points is a little steep considering the Boys could run a lot of clock and use Barber most of the game. Don't be surprised if he sees 35-40 carries. I'm definitely not saying we're going to take Dallas, but no matter who the quarterback is a division rivalry like this doesn't deserve a 9 point line.
NY Giants 23 Dallas 17
Philadelphia at Seattle (Phi -6.5)(43)
The only word we have for last week's Seattle/San Francisco game is "FLUKE." Seriously, when Seneca Wallace is throwing 62 yard TD passes to fullback Leonard Weaver there is obviously something going on. To be honest I think ol' Mike Singletary didn't hit home exactly what he wanted to accomplish and the defense fell apart. Don't expect the same from Philly and with a healthy Brian Westbrook this game should be a no brainer.
Philadelphia 40 Seattle 10
If you'd like to find out about the Sunday night game and Monday night game just head on over to the Best NFL Picks Free website. The New England/Indianapolis game ought to be a dandy. Then of course Pittsburgh at Washington could be a possible Super Bowl matchup. I know I know, sounds weird, but the year we're having it's definitely possible. Hey, good luck with your free football picks this week.

Nice Article....Good Luck
You can be so funny, even when you are trying to be serious :) I love the idea of a fresh start. Oh and a fresh batch of brownies sounds good too ;) ha. On a more serious "football" note, I think we are all going to be at the edge of our seats for the rest of the season. Every week there will be a new surprise of some sort. Nice read.
I agree 9 points is a little steep for that Ginat game. Great picks bro.
As usual great picks Mike. Should be an interesting week. Great job!
