Macy's Great Tree Lighting

A tradition since 1948, Macy's Great Tree Lighting in Atlanta has become such a popular event that it is now nationally syndicated for millions of viewers to enjoy. The tree lighting consists of lighting Georgia's biggest and fullest evergreen tree that is decorated with massive ornaments and displayed on the roof of the Lenox Square Mall. Additional festivities include fireworks and live entertainment. The free tree lighting event occurs each year at 7 p.m. on Thanksgiving night. Holiday In Lights

Each year, the Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta holds the traditional Holiday In Lights celebration. Attractions include mesmerizing lights, displays and trees spread out over 21 acres of park. According to the Centennial Olympic Park, each year will bring something unique and different. The festivities start in mid November and end in early January. Grant Park Holiday Lights and Market

Grant Park in Atlanta offers a two-day holiday event that includes lights, decorations, food and music. The event bases the celebration off of European Christkindl market events. Admission and parking are free to the public. For more information contact the Grant Park office at 404-521-0938.

The Childrens' Christmas Parade

Now in its 30th year, the annual Children's Christmas Parade offers visitors a wide array holiday entertainment such as animals dressed in holiday clothes, marching bands, dancing, Christmas floats, balloons, clowns and Santa Claus. The parade begins at 10:00 am on December 4th for the 2010 season, and ends at noon. Admission to the parade is free for visitors who wish to view the parade while standing on the sidewalks. Christmas Tree Lighting with Santa

Located in the north metro Atlanta area of Marietta, the Historic Marietta Square offers a chance for children and families to watch Santa and Mrs. Clause light an enormous Christmas tree. Other activities include performances by local school choirs, light viewing and visitation time with Santa. Admission is free of charge.
