Riverhills Park located in Temple Terrace is hosting it's annual Winter Wonderland December 8, 2007. Riverhills park is a beautiful park opened to the public year round. The park is 34.4 acres of pristine nature, and unforgettable scenic views. With a wonderful winding wooden boardwalk that follows the rivers edge, Riverhills park has become a cherished, and peaceful spot for families. Riverhills also offers a large new playground, boat ramp, two new tennis courts, restrooms, fishing areas, picnic tables, grills, and pavilions. Oh, and lets not forget the hundreds of birds, ducks, and squirrels.

Last year the Winter Wonderland experience was great, with the exception of the lighted boat parade. Unfortunately, due to the lack of rain, the river was very low. Because of this only a hand full of boats was able to participate in the parade. However, Santa did arrive by boat, and was there to meet the little ones on time. Last Year was a wake up call, so there will be no boat parade this year. So, what will there be this year?

Winder Wonderland 2007 will be packed full of family fun, and guaranteed to create exciting new memories. Community caroling will fill the air with Christmas tunes. An old fashion hayride is sure to delight even the adults. A Christmas bonfire will warm the hearts of all who drop by. Riverhills park will be flowing with festive holiday decorations. Instead of the lighted boat parade, this year there will be the first ever lighted golf cart parade. Nothing screams Florida like seeing a parade of beautifully decorated and lighted golf carts. The event will also include fun activities for the kids, possibly even real snow. What would Christmas be without a Santa? Santa will be there to listen to all the kids wish list, and parents are free to snap photo's.

This event is 100% free to everyone to enjoy. Winter Wonderland is not a heavily advertised event due to the cost of advertisement. The city of Temple Terrace relies on word of mouth, and low cost advertisement in local papers such as the T.T. Beacon in order to keep this wonderful event free. Sponsors fund this event, which means every family can join in the Holiday fun, regardless of their financial situation. Riverhills park is located just east of 56th Street on Riverhills Drive, directly behind Riverhills Elementary School.

Pets that are leashed, and poop scooped are allowed. I have attended this event for the past 3 years, it has became some what of a tradition to us. Each year there is something new, and something different for the kids to enjoy. Last year there was real snow, and several moon bounce inflatable play areas for the kids. You'll just have to attend to see what's new this year. I hope you can make it to this wonderful event, and that your family enjoys it as much as mine.
