Free and Inexpensive Christmas Break Activities

Josue Rodriguez
Christmastime is the most wonderful time of the year, but it can also be the most stressing and expensive season. The anxiety and stress is in the air, and the family needs to do something different to forgot all the financial problems and focus on the real meaning of Christmas. A lot of free and inexpensive activities can be done on Christmas; most of them are a tradition every year, like going to the local church, making some cookies, making Christmas crafts, and putting the Christmas tree and lights together.

But what if we do something different on Christmas that brings the real meaning of Christmas to our neighborhood. Why not gather up your family and share the well with others on Christmas. Our children think that Christmas is about receiving, but the true meaning of Christmas is sharing and giving to others. Here are some ideas of free and inexpensive Christmas break activities.

Bring Gifts to a local Orphanage or Elderly home

You can think that this is activity is expensive but is not. You can get toys from friends and neighbors and bring them with your family to the orphanage. If someone has singing or musical talents bring joy to the elderly sing with them, they just want some to be with them on Christmas season.

Help a Lonely Neighbor on Christmas

This activity can be done trough out the year but Christmas is a good moment to start and give a little help to others in your neighborhood. If you have a lonely or sick neighbor you can give the gift of cleaning the front of their home, this will be a nice surprise that can be done with the whole family.

Dedicate a day to tell your children about Jesus

Children wait for Christmas anxiously to receive gifts. This Christmas can be a great time to tell your children the true reason for the season. Then you can go to the church so they understand what Christmas is all about.

Make a Special Christmas card

Your kids will love to make a Christmas card using only home materials. You can send it to someone you have never send a Christmas card before or a friend or family member that lives to far to visit this Christmas.

Give home made food to someone in the streets

Thousands live in the streets near your neighborhood without anything to eat. Can you imagine the last time they taste a home made food, cookies, and hot chocolate or coffee cup. This will be a great and special activity to teach you children to give and help others at Christmas, and trough out the year.
