EAGLES MERE HISTORIC VILLAGE Once you arrive in Luzerne County there are numerous things to see and do. The Eagles Mere Historical Village is a majestic Victorian Resort. It has specialty shops, a museum, a pristine lake, and fall foliage and parks.
ECKLEY MINERS' VILLAGE Everyone will learn about the hardships and victories of the coal miner and his family by visiting Eckley's Miner Village. Many of the homes and the company store are preserved as they were, almost a century ago.
ELECTRIC CITY TROLLEY STATION AND MUSEUM An interesting museum for those interested in the early days of mechanized transportation.
FORTY FORT MEETING HOUSE This site provides a self-guided tour of historic Wyoming Valley's early settlers, including the Wyoming Monument, the Nathan Denison House, Swetland Homestead, and the Forty Fort Cemetery.
GREATER HAZELTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM This museum offers an interesting view of events, institutions, and people responsible for shaping the Hazelton community, including exhibits on anthracite mining.
HISTORIC BRAINERD CHURCH This brick church was built in 1853 and is a significant example of Greek Revival architecture.
LACKAWANNA COAL MINE TOUR This tour allows the vacationer to explore abandoned mines 300 feet below the surface of the earth and learn how men toiled to mine the coal that fueled America's Industrial Revolution.
LATTIMER MASSACRE MEMORIAL This is the site of the 1897 Minor Labor Strife. The labor movement was born in northeastern Pennsylvania and this is s good place to learn about the developments that lead to the rise of labor unions in America.
LUZERNE CIVIL WAR MONUMENT This monument honors the unit stationed at an encampment on the town's farmlands. This unit participated in numerous battles at Gettysburg.
LUZERNE COUNTY HISTORICAL & GEOLOGICAL SOCIETY Founded all the way back in 1858, the Society chronicles the history of the Wyoming Valley from prehistoric times to the present in three floors of exhibits.
STEAMTOWN NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE Visitors can get a real feel for history at this site. Vacationers can climb aboard an old steam engine, and enjoy an exciting train ride. They can learn about steam railroading and the people who made it possible.
KIRBY PARK For those of you who enjoy exercise visit beautiful Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre. One can enjoy just about any sport here from softball and tennis to frisbee.
