As a classroom teacher and homeschool mom, I was always on the lookout for supplemental activities and worksheets to help reinforce concepts being taught. The internet is a wonderful source of free and inexpensive information to download and print. Here are some of the wesites I found helpful.

www.edhelper.com

For full benefits, this site requires a membership fee of $19.99 per year. The price is well worth all the choices available on this site. You can print worksheets, make puzzles, print theme-related materials, download book tests, and many more options. Worksheets are divided up according to grade level. Answer keys are provided. The following categories are found on this website:

reading and writing
PreK-3
language
special education
foreign languages
math
critical thinking
social studies
science
high school
test prep
art
classroom helpers
make puzzles
monthly themes

I used this site to supplement my homeschool texts all the way through high school. The page layouts are easy to read and many of the worksheets can be created using your own questions and/or wordlists. For practice tests and study guides, you can determine what type of questions to use: multiple choice, short answer, etc.

www.abcteach.com

This site has over 6000 free printables. The membership fee is $40 per year or $70 for two years. Reduced group rates are also available. Paid members have access to over 20,000 pages of teaching materials. The printables are divided by subject area:

language arts
math
languages
protfolios
theme units
seasonal units
basics
shapebooks
teaching extras
clip art
handwriting
word walls
puzzles

I have only accessed the free pages and found them student-friendly with interesting graphics and easy to read fonts.

graph paper
geometry

Each category is further broken down into sequential skills. The sheets with math problems to work have about 30 problems each and an answer key is available. The layout is easy to read.

www.atozteacherstuff.com/

This website is a great source of materials for theme-related teaching. All major holidays are represented as well as many other themes:

teeth
presidents
human body
patterns
mazes
Native Americans
Dr. Seuss
frogs
dinosaurs

Also included are word puzzles, nameplates, handwriting, word families, printable books and many more.
There is a good collection of lesson plans for various subject areas. Other teaching tools found on this website are a handwriting worksheet generator, a wordsearch maker and a leveled books database. Interesting articles written by teachers can also be accessed.

These are just a few of the myriads of websites available to teachers for free and inexpensive resources. Even if a membership fee is required, the time saved and the convenience of downloading the materials on your personal computer often offset the cost.

    A Visitor to Huwazzit (www.baboonfez.com) is a free-to-use, discovery-type activity.
    Should take a whole day!

I'd just like to add a resource that I found lately. Great for teachers looking to have their own website to share info with parents and students. It's called Nextgenducators.com. They set up my site in Blogger, gave me a really good looking design, and they have all kinds of tutorials on how to add quizzes, assignments and even video. Anyway, I'm a fan...thought I'd share.
