Knitted Placemat Pattern #1 - Checkerboard Placemat: This placemat is a very easy one to knit, so it's a good pattern for beginners. The placemat is uses only one color. It's not red and black like you might think. The checkerboard is incorporated into the design by alternating knit and purl stitches. Knitted Placemat Pattern #2 - Giant Diamonds Placemat: This placemat is worked in one color using knit and purl to create diamond shapes. This placemat can be used on both sides. Knitted Placemat Pattern #3 - Stripes Placemat: This is a very colorful placemat that is easy to knit. The stripes are actually created by using a variegated yarn. But you can just tie off and add a new color every other row to create stripes if you want. Or you can just use yarn remnants and let the stripes come out whatever way they happen to come out. Knitted Placemat Pattern #4 - Roman Stitch Placemat: This is another simple placemat to knit. It is worked using the pretty Roman stitch. Knitted Placemat Pattern #5 - Linen Stitch Placemat: This is a more elegant looking placemat that is worked in the linen stitch. The placemat is one solid color and is quite large, measuring about 12 inches by 20 inches. This placemat would be nice in a variety of colors for all the holidays or seasons. Have fun with the placemat patterns and feel free to change them to your liking. You can use bright and bold colors if you want or you can use peaceful pastels. You can make them larger or you can make them smaller. Just be sure you use a yarn that allows you to machine wash and dry so you can easily wash them when they get dirty.
