Free, Limited Microsoft Office Version Will Suffice

Free Web Based Apps Coming in 2010

Microsoft has recently announced a new Microsoft Office that will be available free online sometime next year. This is not just a free trial download, or a try-it-and-then-buy-it software. It will actually be free. This new web based software will include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Although the software will be limited, it is a great deal for those that use these programs and prefer the newer versions as they come. It has been said that Microsoft is responding to Google Apps, a software that allows users to access spreadsheets and word. All of Google Apps runs inside normal web browsers.

As a current Microsoft Office user, I am excited about the new upcoming online software. Even with its limited ability, I will be sure to check it out as soon as it is available. Since I am not a computer wizard, and just use most of the programs on a simple basis, the limited versions will do just fine. I am interested in using the online version simply because I do not have to download it to my computer, nor do I have to take up space on my hard drive. I also think this new version online is great, because I can go anywhere there is a computer, type in the website information, and use the software, even if there is no Microsoft Office software downloaded. It's like a carry along, like checking your yahoo mail. It goes where you go.

It has been said that this new free online version could cut into Microsoft's profits, but in the long run, profits will continue. Cutting out competition with great software, will keep Microsoft strong, and a competitive leader. Microsoft is the leading brand of choice by consumers, and at this time, seems to be pulling a ahead.

All Microsoft Office fans are going to flood this new web apps as soon as it is in full stride. I hope that the server is strong enough to hold the millions of people who plan to try and use the new, free, limited versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. You will never have to worry about leaving it at home, it goes where you go.
