Free Local Advertising in Tacoma

First off, you can use fliers which anyone can easily make on Microsoft Word. Once you have these fliers made, you can find many free places in which to post them. While I was working as an Intern at The Museum of Glass in Tacoma I was able to use fliers to post at local colleges and coffee shops and of course grocery stores. Just use scissors to clip the bottom of your flier several times with your contact information so people who are interested can tear them off. Keep the ad basic so the Headline instantly tells the reader what the business is about. Remember, people have short attention spans.

Secondly, word of mouth. While successfully promoting a vending business years ago, I found that local bars and pubs in Tacoma, such as Charlie's Pub and Grill near Tacoma Community college will be more than happy to allow you to post flier's. Also, if you are a frequent and well liked customer to begin with, you can get word of mouth advertising. Keep in mind not to come across as a salesman, but chat people up like a friend and the establishment will trust you as an individual first. Also, keep in mind that they are in the business of making money, so they will respect where you're coming from.

Community colleges, such as TC and Pierce college are good places to advertise your wares. Frequently they allow people to set up tables if you have an art, craft, or product that they deem to be of educational value. There you can set up a stack of fliers, or business cards which you can get a Vistaprint.com, with your URL or other information. If the college charge for setting up a table or vending booth, they will usually allow you post your fliers on their bulletin boards provided you get permission from the student body administration.

Also, campus radio stations, such as the ones located at the University of Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran University, where I performed free advertising for The Museum of Glass, will be willing to run an ad spot for you if they believe your business is good for the community.
