Free for that Moment

That Repeatable Moment

Tommy Hayfield
Who can remember
the September moment
when carelessness was free,
untainted because of youthful innocence
It was and had to be so regarded...
Who would doubt it was so!

It was so!
We all remember
how seriously we regarded
the gravity of the moment
Indeed, the many moments of innocence
which made us feel free...

How free?
So what!? So
you claim your innocence
as yours...I remember
the abrupt moment
you challenged us...so callously disregarded!

You disregarded
us in our naive quest to be free!
What of the moment
of treachery, a Judas moment! So
what did you find as a reward? Remember,
do you, the price, the unlisted price of innocence...

My innocence
was briefly unlisted, was worth so much...I regarded
it as priceless! Do you remember
the price of it? Free
people fight for innocence so
we all share that feeling, that moment...

Who made us who we are at this moment?
Who created our innocence?
It was and is so
because we honestly regarded
that we have a right and are free
because we choose who to ignore and who to remember...

The moments of our innocence are made every day...
We each day disregard the events that are so disturbing that we need not remember,
can't build from...we free ourselves from the bonds of these!
