Free Movie Tickets for Kids Who Like to Read

Lori Voth
This summer, National Amusements, owner of several large movie theatre chains, will reward children free movie tickets with a promotional offer designed to encourage reading and promote literacy among kids. The free admission tickets will be available to kids and their accompanying parents or guardians in exchange for a completed book report which must be handed in directly by the child at the movie theatre box office.

The Summer Reading Program is called Bookworm Wednesdays and will be offered at participating cinemas across twelve states. The free movie promotion will begin on July 8, 2009 and will continue to occur every Wednesday for six weeks thereafter. Show times for the free films will be at 10am consistently throughout the entirety of the promotional offer.

Any child is eligible to take advantage of this Summer Reading Program free movie admission opportunity as long as they have access to a participating Showcase Cinemas, Multiplex Cinemas or Cinema de Lux box office.

The procedure to obtain a free ticket is simple:

Kids are encouraged to read a book of their choice of any genre and length. Once read, they need to fill out a book report answering some questions which have already been outlined on a worksheet for easy understanding and can be accessed and printed out at the Bookworm Wednesdays Summer Reading Program free movie website. The form is brief and appropriate for kids 6 and older. (Ages 6 and under receive free admission anyway, no book report required). Once the book report is complete all your child then must do is present it personally at a participating National Amusements movie theatre box office by the 10am show time any Wednesday morning from July 8, 2009 through August 12, 2009.

The free children's movies to be featured on Bookworm Wednesdays will differ each week. The program may be subject to change which will be reflected on the website if applicable but as of now the Summer Reading Program free movie lineup is scheduled as follows:

July 8-
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (PG)

July 15-
Everyone's Hero (G)

July 22-
Kung Fu Panda (PG)

July 29-
The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything (G)

August 5-

August 12-
