Sample GED for Math
Every student who takes the GED faces five sections: Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts Writing and Language Arts Reading. Each subtest must be passed with a score of 410 or higher, and the combined total score must be 2,250 or higher - which means that while you can squeak by on one or two sections with a 410, you need to be stronger in other areas to compensate.
Many GED test takers have math phobia, often only because they had negative experiences in math classes in elementary or middle school. While 71 percent of all GED test takers completed 10th grade or higher, many struggled with math from elementary school onward, and have significant gaps in understanding math concepts.
The good news is that math concepts aren't hard to learn - math is just another language, like English, Spanish, German, Portuguese or French. When students think of math as a language then tackling the math GED becomes much easier. Using prep materials and GED study guides can help students to catch up, fill in those knowledge gaps, and succeed in passing the math GED.
Math GED Study Guide
Finding study guides for the math GED isn't had. Every public library has printed copies, though many consider these books to be reference materials, which can't leave the library. Online math GED prep may involve paid websites, but you don't have to pay a penny to find printable online GED sample tests.
Start with the GED source - the American Council on Education. ACE created the GED in the 1940s, to help sort through WWII soldiers to determine education level. Since then, ACE has offered the GED to millions of students, and provides free, printable sample GED tests for math as well as the other sections.
Free GED Prep for Math
McGraw Hill provides free math GED sample tests as well, all online and all printable. This educational publisher has an extensive GED prep website that helps test takers to practice, find holes in knowledge, and to reinforce concepts needed for GED success.
Whether you're taking the GED to advance in your career or to move on to college, using the right study guide GED materials is key to success. Most important, though, is persistence and a positive attitude; these traits are as important as any math book in finding your own GED success.
