Free Online Kids Games

Kids love games. More than that, kids love the computer. When you mix the games and computers together, kids can be very happy for a long time. There are many on-line game sites created just for kids that have a lot to offer.

There are concerns, as there should be, about kids being on-line, so it's important to make sure that the sites your child visits are pre-screened by you and that they take the safety of children very seriously. Make sure each web site has a privacy policy and parents information. Read through it and make sure it meets your standards.

A good set of rules will also help your child make smart on-line decisions. Several rules could include no on-line chatting and no registering your personal information with out first checking with a parent.

The following sites have great kids games and are all safe places for kids to be. These sites would definitely appeal to kids who are between 7-12.

Nick.com: For all the games related to your child's favorite Nickelodeon shows, Nick.com is the place to go. They also offer plenty of other types of games including racing, puzzle, sports and "head to head" games like checkers and chess where your kids can e-mail their moves to a friend or cousin to play a continuous on-line game. Nick.com also has a few 3 D games and a teen site with games geared towards older kids.

Yahooligans.com: This game site offers a whole lot more than just games. While they do have a very generous selection of arcade, sports, board and movie themed games, they also have jokes, e-cards, music and movie information including clips of the latest kids movies. A special feature called "Ask Earl" has answers to thousands of questions in the areas of science, school, world and art. Kids can find out answers to questions like, how does a glow worm glow, how do you become a zookeeper, and what do Canadians eat. This site offers much more than games, and is a great resource for the bored kid.

Postopia.com: Postopia.com is created by the makers of Post cereals and are committed to making sure that every child can have a fun and safe experience on the internet. Their games are designed to encourage creativity and problem solving, give kids a sense of accomplishment and develop coordination and concentration, and allow kids to explore and learn. They have about 83 different games centered on sports, adventure, puzzles, arcade and action. They also offer e-cards. With codes from the cereal boxes, kids can open up added game features, so there is a bit of "advertising" that goes with these games. Of course none of it is overt, however, in the grocery store, my son definitely wants the Post cereals so he can get the special codes!

Kids can have fun and be safe while playing on-line games. Parents can stay involved by playing games with them and generally keeping an eye on what they are doing. Kids will feel a sense of pride as they navigate their way around these kids sites with little help from their parents. As a parent, you can feel confident that they are in a safe, on-line place.
