Free Online Math for Kids

Have you ever noticed that your children lose a little of what they learned over the summer? In our case, my daughter was already struggling with some subjects in school. Math in particular, is the subject she had the most problems with.

I have decided that all of my children will be doing a home school program over the summer. Personally I do not want to pay some of the outrageous prices that some online schools want for summer school programs when I can find what I need for free and right on the internet.

This particular article is focused on the subject of math. I have found several free online websites which provide math for all ages. Most of these websites also have other subjects, but as I said we are focusing on math. Also they are all free resources. Some will have the option to purchase a membership, however every website I mention has free sections.

Math website # 1: SchoolExpress.com

SchoolExpress.com offers a variety of subjects for a variety of grades. This is one of my favorite websites because in addition to worksheets it has an actual online math program which allows the children to answer the questions on the computer. The computer tells them if the answer is correct or incorrect and moves on to the next question.

I would only use this website, but it only has addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. My oldest daughter is already doing algebra. Although this is a perfect site for keeping up the skills they already know over the summer.

Math website #2: MathDrills.com

As mentioned above, my daughter needs to sharpen her algebra skills. MathDrills.com has a ton of algebra worksheets and answer keys. On this website you can choose from basic math to fractions, to geometry. Holiday fun math worksheets are available for several different holidays as well.

Math website#3: Math.com

Math.com has a large variety of math topics and is much like the online math mentioned about SchoolExpress.com. For example, for algebra it takes you through a few steps in learning and then you take a quiz on what you learned. I think Math.com will be an excellent resource for my daughter to advance in math.

Math website #4: SoftSchools.com

SoftSchools.com is one of my favorite websites for free worksheets. SoftSchools.com has large variety of subjects including handwriting and learning games for learning French and Spanish. Cool! I know this is a math focused article, but I had to bring it up. I highly recommend this website for children pre-K through sixth grade.

All of these websites will make great resources for keeping your children's math skills sharp over the summer. Learning isn't what most children want to do over summer vacation so remember to have fun too.
