Free Online Photo Editor: LunaPic

A Fun, Free Way to Edit Pictures Online

Elizabeth V. Miller
LunaPic is my all-time favorite online photo editor. The website is easy to use and the results are astounding. For fun and free picture editing capabilities online, try LunaPic.com. First, you can upload a photo or set of photos to work with. Then, you can get started editing. With all LunaPic has to offer, I'm amazed it's free.

When I'm editing on my home computer, for most projects I still opt to use the free downloadable editing program GIMP instead. But when using a computer that a downloadable editor is not an option, LunaPic really comes in handy. And for some projects, I actually even prefer LunaPic because of its fun and easy-to-use features.

Free Photo Editing Online: Basic Capabilities

LunaPic offers all of the basic editing features--like cropping, resizing, scaling, and rotating--that you'd expect from a photo editor. If you don't have a program like Microsoft Office Picture Manager, LunaPic just may become your go-to editor for everyday needs.

LunaPic also has color adjusting tools letting you easily transform your picture to black and white or sepiatone. Vignettes, two tone colors, and color tints are made easy with LunaPic's free online editor. As well, color saturation and brightness contrast tools are readily available.

Free Photo Editing Online: Cool Effects & Crazy Animations

Where LunaPic separates itself from many other editors is in its offerings of custom effects and animations. With the free online photo editor, you can use your pictures to blend two images, build a Warhol graphic, create a 3-D cube, add a thermal effect, add a lighting effect, charcoal a picture, emboss, sketch, paint, and more.

And LunaPic's free animations are even cooler. Again, using your own pictures, you can create reflecting water, snowfall, an old movie effect, rotating cube, sparkles, pouring rain, floating hearts, flashing lightning, and various color cycles. As long as you save your creations as .GIF files, your new animations will be supported. (Other extensions, like .PNG and .JPG, don't allow for saving animation. If you try to save an animation with these latter file extensions, only the first screenshot will be saved.)

You can also build slideshows and collages with LunaPic using various transition animations. They sky's the limit when it comes to how you choose to use LunaPic's vast editing capabilities. I hope you have as much fun as I do playing around with this great and free online photo editor. Good luck!
