Free Online Shipping Day for Christmas Shopping Procrastinators

December 18, 2008 will be the first Free Shipping Day which involves an organized group of online retailers. Luke Knowles, founder of Free Shipping .org has come up with this brain child and plans to see this concept continue in the future. Online retailers have agreed as over 250 of them joined in to offer free shipping today with a guarantee of product arrival in time for elves to wrap things up on Christmas Eve.

Black Friday sales and Cyber Monday Internet sales may find that Free Shipping day will join in for a tri-shop-a-thon for customers to do their Christmas shopping. When customers go to the freeshipping.com site an entire list of store logos will be found. The customer simply clicks on the logo of a site they are interested in shopping at and the site comes up. Right away the customer will see the free shipping offer and the restrictions the seller may list for the customer to get this offer. For example when I checked out American Eagle Outfiters there is a $100.00 purchase that must be made to enjoy the benefit of free shipping. Victoria's Secret has a coupon code the customer must enter when ordering at least $50.00 worth of product. Toys R Us has joined in and the customer order has to be $49.00 and up.

Time will tell if this is a success. Those shoppers who have waited for the last minute and would like a chance to still escape the mad throng at the local mall or Wal-Mart may be happy to see this opportunity today.
