Free Phone Service

Google Voice

Megan Myers
If you are looking to reduce costs, Google voice can certainly cut costs on your phone service.

For those interested in using this service, just go to google.com/voice

What are some of the features of Google Voice:

--It's free within the United States. For international rates, see this website--https://www.google.com/voice/rates

--As of January 25, 2011, users can port their number to Google voice--for a fee of $20. This means you can make the mobile number you've always used your Google Voice number, so it can ring any phone you want-or even your computer .

-- Instead of having to send out a conference number and access code to people calling in, you can now just ask them to call you at a preset time and you can conference them in as they call.

When you're on a call and a new call comes in (call waiting required), you'll have an additional option to conference the caller with your existing call. You can conference up to four callers together.

--Because Google Voice doesn't replace your existing phone lines, you can continue making calls directly from your existing phone service. You can show your Google voice number on caller id if so desired, or just continue letting your original phone number from your existing phone service show up on caller id.

--Available for Blackberry, Android, I-Phone, SMS, Gmail, and more.

--Voice mail transcription. For those concerned with privacy, please note Google records and transcribes all phone calls.

--One number for all of your phones. Add up to 6 phones.

--Google may soon be adding VoIP to Google Voice
