There are some 5th grade students who enjoy the challenge and independence of math worksheets and some 5^th graders who are repulsed with math worksheets. My thoughts are if a child wants to work on math worksheets and is asking if they can be given math worksheets, then the opportunity should be opened up to them to work on 5th grade math worksheets.

Fifth grade math does not come easy for some kids and also math for some kids causes a lot of anxiety. My experience in education with dealing with kids and the kids not feeling confident in math is a student may sometimes feel more confident in the classroom when he/she can take math worksheets home. They can practice the skills in the comfort of their own home with their parents support, then come back to the classroom and ask any questions they may have on the math problems and concepts.

There are lots of good, free printable 5th grade math worksheets offered online that are perfect for supplementing the math curriculum. It is so easy and convenient to print 5^th grade math worksheets for the classroom or home and use the resources where they will be most effective.

The process or method that has worked the best for me as a teacher is to supply printable math worksheets for students in the classroom, have a designated place in the room where students can always find 5^th grade math worksheets. If the students get done early with their work or finish up earlier than expected in a center, allow them to pick up a math worksheet if they choose and work on it at their leisure. Kids also really like math worksheets that are themed for special occasions and/holidays, I have always offered holiday themed free printable math worksheets and when the holidays come around, the children ask for those particular types of math worksheets.
